Mark, you were the one that started making derogatory and unsupportable comments:
"Anyone thinking that the future for EVERYONE is not mirrorless, has their heads in the sand."
"Since there is not [sic] other alternative right now to mirrorless, the move to mirrorless is absolute."
"really, ???
I guess you belong to the camp that thinks the sun may not rise tomorrow.
Or maybe you believe the earth is still flat.
Or maybe you believe that the Russians altered the election for Trump.
Or maybe you believe that you have a head on your shoulder..."
"Of course.
I made several comments on the subject of mirrorless, and I am simply not the type to sit by and let someone say that my comments are stupid, or worse. So if someone starts slinging insults, I throw them back. There are simply too many people on this Board who think they know everything, and only their comments are correct. Sorry to say - but this PeterFF guy seems to be nothing more than an FF.
But thanks for your comment. It is well taken. I wish we had less commentary here that was so absurdly opinionated, or insulting."

Mark, if you are an educator, first I suggest that you copy edit your posts for spelling and grammar. Secondly, you have not made objective statements in this thread, but rather tried to dictate somewhat subjective and biased statements such as:
"go for a Canon M5.
Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
Great specs. Great camera. And with an adapter - you can use your old lenses.
plus the M lenses - while limited range - are small, light and excellent."
Which is highly opinionated and also extremely subjective not to mention dictatorial and arrogant. I'm a long term Canon user, and the EOS M5 is a good camera, but it is still behind the market leaders such as Sony, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Olympus and others. I would certainly suggest "considering" the EOS M5, but only along side other possibilities. Personally I am not interested in a mirrorless camera at this point, since I have not yet seen any compelling reason to move from a DSLR to something else for my own needs, but they are my criteria not other people's criteria. Part of the reason is that I like Canon and have a substantial investment in Canon systems, but no matter how good the EOS M5 maybe I do not think that it is good enough yet and I would not buy one personally. Maybe the EOS Mi6 or EOS M15!
So, Mark, I have no idea of what kind of educator you are, but reading through your many posts does not give me much confidence. I may not always agree with CatMarley but I do respect her opinion, knowledge and experience. As far as I can tell the only thing that she and I may disagree about in the context of this thread is the pace of the change that is occurring as camera technology moves towards mirrorless and possibly other technologies. My experience in technology demonstrates that adoption rates are typically much slower than entrepreneurs, technologists, marketing people and even some consumers like to suggest, even if the end result is eventually the same. It is almost impossible to predict vendor rankings accurately beyond a year or two.
Finally, if you are indeed an educator then you have a responsibility to present balanced advice in a reasonable manner. I have not observed you doing that but rather dragging the discussion down into the muck in a highly biased way. However, having been a spelunker I am used to plumbing the depths and sometimes swimming through mud, so I can go there if I have to!
