What is the other "major problem" you're referencing?

I'm curious because the two 7D Mark II that I've taken some 50,000 shots with haven't been showing any "major problems" that I've noticed.

I have never noticed this problem with the built-in level, but would consider it pretty minor anyway because I don't use either of the levels (the level in the viewfinder is displayed using the AF points, so is probably what's referenced in an earlier response about getting the camera repaired... the other level is displayed on the rear LCD, so may not be subject to the same "fault").

But, again, I simply don't use either electronic level. I shoot sports and action mostly with my 7DIIs and usually don't have time to check this. I DO use the optional grid display in the viewfinder... and, even so, I often have to straighten things on post-processing. No big deal.

i agree i do the same repair in photo shop , just a little annoying that holding the camera level makes it so far out , but it is not the end of the world and i have lived with it since new , if i do use the view finder level it is spot on it is in fact the body when doing this that is leaning left by about 20 degrees , holding the camera level will give you a shot such as i showed in post every time , lean body 20 degrees left and shot is straight but body is not

Still not clear to me.
If you set the camera on the table, is the image it saves level?
If you set the camera on the table, is the image you see in the viewfinder level?
If you set the camera on the table, is the image on the rear screen level?
Does your camera have a rotate image function?

on the table image looks level in screen , but viewfinder level says it is not level
if you take shot on table it is not level , if you tilt camera and work off view finder level then shot is level but camera body is not , the photo i posted Sea horizon was level in view finder but the view finder lever said it was not , so using view finder level corrects this but camera body needs to be on an angle down to the left , now the photo shows what i mean this is how body needs to be for horizon to be straight , now view finder level shows straight and is correct but as you can see body shows it is not

has any one else come across this , if i hold my 7d2 level in the hand as i would my 6d no shot has a level horizon , if i place camera on level surface the camera in built level is 1 to 2 bars to the left , so of coarse i can get a level shot using the cameras in built level but not by eye as i would with my 6d
when the level is right in camera the body has a fair lean to the left , has any body run into this before as its starting to annoy me , it has been like it since new but after waiting for it for some time didnt want to send it back lol , is there an easy fix as i can find nothing on the web about this
when the camera level says its level the picture in view finder is way off level but the photo is in fact level

If your camera on a verified dead level hard surface has a sloping hoizon there is something wrong with the camera needing Canon to repair or replace it looks like.

That sounds like a serious problem. It seems to have nothing to do with the level then. If you turn the level off altogether you'd still have the same issue, correct? Your camera should have gone back to Canon when you first realized you had this problem. Hopefully it's not too late to have it fixed under warranty. Why did you live with this very obvious problem for so long?

until recently it never really bothered me as most of my work was close up wild life , camera worked fine other than the level , here in Australia the service offered by Canon and others is nothing like you get in the USA the camera would have been gone for months for repairs , they almost never replace as the laws here say they only have to repair it , but i checked it is now out of warranty so guess i will have to live with it , will talk to canon any way as i can see on the net they are aware of some 7d2 coming of the production line with this fault . just had a reply from canon and sent more info will keep you all posted

Wow, gone for months for service? That's terrible. More often than not turnaround at one of the 4 Canon service centers around the US is a week or less.

Well have received 2 emails from canon Australia the last one said that if it turned out to be and assembly problem then canon would fix it even if the warranty has expired , which it has , so when i get home i will send it off to them see what they say , thanks for all your comments will post the end result in a few months when i get it back , lets hope canon Australia will prove me wrong and sent it back sooner

OK on your camera go into the menu and go to the wrench go to the 3rd gold square and look for info display option press the set button and you will see a list and look for electronic level make sure it has a check next to it then go to ok press the info button on top left once or twice and the level will show up

Clearly you didn't actually read the thread. He has no problem displaying the level. There is an issue with the horizon line not being straight. The problem goes beyond the level.

First thing to do is check to find the source of the problem. Put the camera on a verified level surface, tripod, table, car boot, whatever. Check the level in live view to see if the camera is in fact the problem. I have had my computer folks tell me most of my computer issues are related to the very common PBCK type of errors. Problem Between Chair and Keyboard. Really if there is a camera issue, contact Canon and see if there is a simple way to calibrate the level.

Newbie mistake, not reading through the thread before responding.

The OP, had already run the diagnostics! It's not just a little off, it's considerably off. See the picture that was posted of how much the camera needed to be wedged to get the shot to level!

The camera is being sent back to Canon for service even though it's out of warranty, because the problem is likely a manufacturing error!
