I'm planning to purchase one within the next month or two. These problems could delay my purchase, but it's the model that I need for what I shoot.
NO dont let my little problem delay great camera i love mine to bits , mine has had this since new and from what ive read on the net very rare indeed , most likely coarse is miss aligned mirror or sensor , it has not been a major issue as i mostly shoot wild life , but lately been trying my hand at wild life in scene where its a little annoying as i have to tilt the camera a little to get level , if i use the inbuilt level they are straight every time , just tilting the camera hand held feels a little odd but no big deal , buy one you wont be sorry , ive had mine since first released and had to wait for it , should have sent it back really but i loved it and didnt want to part with it , so enjoy your new camera dont let this put you off
I did some searching and found this:
SAME THINGS HAPPENED TOO ME I ROLLED IT BACK TOO THE FACTORY FIRMWARE AND MY PICS WERE BETTERBUT THEN THE MISSED AF AND SOFT FOCUS AME BACK VIA THE NEXT FIRMWARE THEN I TOK IT TOO PHOTOTEC NYC ON WEST 36TH AND THEY FOUND OUT ALOT OF 7D2 HAVE DESIGN FLAW THE SENSORS WERE TILTED A LIL WHEN ASSEMBLED IN THE CAMERAS ITS WHY THE CAMERA MISS FOCUS
Just to clarify, it's the AF sensor that was tilted or mismounted during assembly, not the image sensor. The tilt cannot be fixed without damaging the sensor or mirror box and therefore the entire mirror box needs to be replaced. The condition can degrade over time. I assume that means the poorly mounted sensor can move causing inconsistencies.
Should be covered under warranty. Mine was.

has any one else come across this , if i hold my 7d2 level in the hand as i would my 6d no shot has a level horizon , if i place camera on level surface the camera in built level is 1 to 2 bars to the left , so of coarse i can get a level shot using the cameras in built level but not by eye as i would with my 6d
when the level is right in camera the body has a fair lean to the left , has any body run into this before as its starting to annoy me , it has been like it since new but after waiting for it for some time didnt want to send it back lol , is there an easy fix as i can find nothing on the web about this
when the camera level says its level the picture in view finder is way off level but the photo is in fact level

Give Canon tech services a shout, they can be very helpful.
Never use the inbuilt level and if your shooting raw you can straighten it in PP.

Have you tried using the grid in the viewfinder instead of the level? Page 74 of your manual.
Yes the 7DM2 has 2 levels 1 in the viewer when look through the lens its on top you have to turn it on in the menu and on the display if you press the info button a couple times the level will show up.

What is the other "major problem" you're referencing?
I'm curious because the two 7D Mark II that I've taken some 50,000 shots with haven't been showing any "major problems" that I've noticed.
I have never noticed this problem with the built-in level, but would consider it pretty minor anyway because I don't use either of the levels (the level in the viewfinder is displayed using the AF points, so is probably what's referenced in an earlier response about getting the camera repaired... the other level is displayed on the rear LCD, so may not be subject to the same "fault").
But, again, I simply don't use either electronic level. I shoot sports and action mostly with my 7DIIs and usually don't have time to check this. I DO use the optional grid display in the viewfinder... and, even so, I often have to straighten things on post-processing. No big deal.
I also have a Canon 7D Mark II have not had a problem. But there is a viewfinder level explained on page 77 of your manual that might correct the problem. Se if turning that on and setting the level in the view finder still gives the same results.

There are two levels on the 7D Mark II. The viewfinder level in my camera is dead on. So is the level on the LCD screen. Are you having this problem with the level in the viewfinder, the LCD screen, or both? I am aware of just about every feature on the 7D Mark II and I believe there is no user accessible level calibration. You need to have Canon look at it. I hope your body is still under warranty.
You can turn off the viewfinder level under the menu settings. The LCD level is always on when you press the info button several times. Glad mine works because this body is over 70 and way out of warranty
