Greg,

The T6i has 24+ MP, touch screen and live view. a perfect step up.

Captain AL

Captain Al, I was not talking about the T6i but the T6. Here is what I said copied from my original post.

"So it comes down to the dollars you have to spend. 80D if $1200 is an OK amount (less for a refurb at Canon store) or the 77D for less. Do not consider the T6, it has nothing to add in this discussion. It has an 18MP processor which is a step down from all the above, which have a 24MP processor."

I normally do not do a correction like this but it is important for the OP realize the T6 is not much of an update.

There is not an easy answer to your question. You probably need to give more thought to what you want to accomplish with your photos. I think the "sb" & amfoto1 posts contain excellent advice. I'll share my story. Several years ago I purchased a T5i with two kit lenses. I was satisfied with them for awhile but I wanted to improve the quality of my prints. The advice I saw on UHH was to spend money on lenses first. I think it is excellent advice. So I first purchased a 70-200 f/2.8 L lens. I bought that lens because I was shooting grandkids sports sometimes in low light conditions, which is why I wanted the f/2.8. Seeing the improvement in quality with an L lens I then purchased a refurbished 24-105 f/4L lens, which is on my camera at least 90% of the time. Both lenses are excellent & will work with a full frame camera. I was happy with these lenses for a couple of years. Then I took a fine art print class & realized that if I wanted to improve the quality of my prints further I knew I wanted to go to a full frame camera. First I looked at the 6D that would give me excellent quality for landscape, which I like to shoot. But not so good in low light conditions & not great for sports. Then I looked at the 5DII. But using the search feature here I found that there was a big improvement in going from 5DII to 5DIII. So I did a price comparison of these 3 full frame cameras. And was just about ready to buy a 5DIII at about $2,500,new. Then using the UHH I found people trading up from the 5DIII to the IV. So next I asked for advice on UHH about buying a Mark IV for less then $3,400. I got some great advice. First, don't buy grey market equipment. Second, look at the sites: "Greentoe" & "CanonPriceWatch." Third, many retailers will match prices from other authorized Canon dealers. What do I want from my prints? I want photos of: grandkids sports (ice hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, etc.), landscapes, portraits, street photos, family, urban scenes. I want prints ranging from 8x10 to 16x20 that I can hang on the wall. And when I look at them I want to say to myself "that is a great photo." You need to decide what you want to accomplish. BTW, I bought a 5d Mark IV from B&H, which I expect will be delivered tomorrow.

Congratulations! Enjoy. (Then it is a good thing you didn't go for a FF!)
