I recently acquired a Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic SPIIa. I also found an original user manual as well. In 1969 I bought the Spotmatic II and as I remember it came with a 55mm f/1.8 Super Takumar lens. I also had a super Takumar 135mm f/3.5 lens. One of my buddies had the same camera and had an 85-210mm lens as well as the 55mm. In looking in the user manual for the SP IIa the only Super Takumar zoom I find is the Super Takumar Zoom 70-150mm f/4.5. Did the Super Takumar come in the 85-210 range or was that one of the Vivitar lenses that were also m42 screw mounts? I hate getting old. I seem to suffer from that malady CRS.

Your Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic SPIIa is a quite unique and rare version of the Spotmatic which could interface with Honeywell Flashes. Notice that there is a little sensor lens in the top right corner of the camera just below the film rewind knob that is not present on most Spotmatics. If you would like to research details about any Pentax Cameras or lenses the Pentax forum is a terrific complete resource.

Another useful resource is Butkus.org. There you can find complete user manuals in PDF Format for almost any camera or lens, not just Pentax.

I shot a Spotmatic for almost 10 years with an f1.4. I'm PRETTY SURE it was a 50, and NOT a 55?! But I never had the 1.8.

Actually, I spoke too soon. I no longer have the original camera but had picked up another one a few years ago in a pawn shop in Reno for about $15. It DOES have the f1.8 lens onit and it is indeed a 55mm!! This one is the SPll, but not the A model.

My first "real" camera was a spotmatic with a 50mm 1.4. Wish I still had it. I wonder how many of us started with a spotmatic.

Yes, for me it was my first SLR!
I'll bet a LOT of people started on Pentax. They were a great camera for little money compared to the Canons and Nikons!!

Since the Navy Exchange sold it and the 55mm lens as a kit for $159.00 under the Honeywell Pentax name there were a lot of them around the barracks on every Naval Station I was sent to during my enlistment.
