Wow, evidently I don't know how to use a cpl. I went to the lake today to test with with the 200-500 and new B&W 95mm cpl. The bright sun was to my right. I took a lot of test shots with the filter on turning it a little each time, then I pulled it off and took several more photos in the same location. Every one of the photos I took with the filter on were blurry and all with the filter off were sharp.
These are 2 of the SOOCs. No more cpl filters for me!
The focus point is on the duck.

Were you handholding the camera? Does applying a polarizer make the viewfinder too dark for the camera-lens to focus properly? What was your working aperture and shutter speed? The filter is not the issue here.

I was testing! Don't you think I'd use a tripod? Duhhh!!! You can get the exif info out of the photos very easily.
