The Siamese cat was originally bred as an attack cat and i'm told that they weighed in at around 39-35 pounds! Ouch!

My avatar features Magic, the cat who was my buddy until she died of lymphoma in 2011. After a semi-decent interval, we went to the cat pound, where a totally black cat we named Leila adopted me {yes, she took all the initiative}. When I'm sitting watching TV, Leila will often hop onto my lap, roll over onto her back, and purr, confident that I will gently rub her tummy, but if I walk towards the door carrying her, she will freak out. Even though she trusts me with the part that most of us protect most dear, "soft underbody", after over five years she doesn't trust me with doors; according to the shelter's records, she was retrieved from under a house trailer, and I'm guessing that the events which led to there began with someone carrying her out a door. I'm also guessing that many shelter cats have a similar memory, most involving out-of-doors in some fashion, so I view the shelter as being irresponsible to take a chance like that. Those of us who live with cats {I would never use the phrase "own cats"} know that unlike dogs, cats have weak necks, so a leash should always be attached to a harness around the cat's body, so the shelter was doubly irresponsible in this case.

Every other adoption video I've seen has been recorded in a studio. Poor Pinky deserved the same.

No, Pinky loses.

This was supposed to be one of those public service "Pet of the Week" blurbs, typically run during local news programs, to introduce an animal at the shelter to watchers. I'm thinking they normally feature an animal they've having trouble placing, and Pinky didn't help his cause any here.

My earlier comments indicated that Pinky probably has emotional issues that weren't taken into account.

Cats have to be introduction to the leash when they are young kittens. Then as adults, when you take them for a walk they are fine but you usually walk where they decide to go. I have had 3 cats that were fine on the leash over the years. They should never have taken Pinky outside since they had no idea if he was accustom to a leash or not.
