Beautiful shots, Bob, and the graininess isn't enough to make a difference in the image quality IMO. I love the new perches.

Thanks for visiting, Donna and for adding your kind remarks! I may just have to try the 70-200mm and the 1.4X with the 5D...will lose a little reach but I believe the 5D handles high ISO better.

Bob, wonderful shots and variety of very happy backyard tweeters!! Before you know it, you will be taking pictures of spring flowers to go along with your birds!!

You may be right, Angela...the Bradford pear blooms and the Yoshino cherry blossoms took a real hit. I see a little recovery in the new growth that also was stung pretty good by the teen temperatures but, all in all, the early blooming plants will have the lowest production in a long, long time. Guess I'll find out which plants are truly "hardy" in zone 7! Thanks for visiting and for your kind remarks!

I don't know if you caught what I wrote on my forsythia... if you cut some sprigs and bring them inside in water, they will probably pop before the ones outside do!! I know mine in my yard are still without color! Rainy, raw and grey today and tomorrow.... yuck!!!

I would guess that up in NY, your plants had not reached the development stage that ours had...once the tender portion of the buds is even partially open the hard freeze is usually fatal. Our Forsythia was fully open and in 48 hours they were 100% brown. Time will tell!

Thanks,

Bob

my favorite's the beautiful no. 1 shot. it doesn't look grainy to me.

Thanks for visiting! The first one is the BROWN HEADED COWBIRD and, even though this species never builds their own nest (they lay one of their eggs in the nests of other songbirds and leave the chicks to be raised by the surrogate), I can't help but like their distinctive coloration. They are one of the species that make up the enormous flocks of winter blackbirds. Have a nice week!

The ten foot log that I have mounted horizontally above the rails of my deck has become so worn that I have finally replaced it. The recent wind and ice storm that we had took out most of the topmost limbs of a mature oak tree that stands beside the deck so I decided that we might as well try to salvage something out of the mess. Yesterday we made the change and, at least for awhile, we will have some new structures that might add a little more interest.

I shot quite a few today and got a few that I have posted in here. I used The Canon 7D Mk II along with the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS with the 1.4X extender. It has been completely cloudy all day with occasional showers so I had to use a very high ISO that resulted in grainy results. I look forward to trying this equipment set-up with better lighting conditions.

Hope you all enjoyed a fine weekend!

Beautiful Bob. DoF, lighting, composition etc, etc are all spot on. I am jealous.

Thanks, Sylvia! Several of our most populous species were brought here from Europe...by the ancestors of many of us in the US! I appreciate your viewing in download, your comments and the smilies!

Have a nice and prosperous week!
