I think if you switch to all EF lenses you will be much happier. They are more durable and have much nicer glass. Their weight, though heavier, should not be much of an issue for anyone with small hands. Male or female.

That was not even what the question was about.

Nikon D500 focuses faster and more accurately than the 7D Mark II. But a lot of my friends use the 7D Mark II with the new Canon 100-400 and love that combo although my combo of D500 and 200-500 is faster and more accurate on focusing.

The D500 is a newer camera and uses newer technology than the 7DII. When the 7DII came out, I got one because it was the best bang for the buck, at the time. Luckily for me, I also owned a Nikon D7200 at the time the D500 was introduced, so I had some familiarity with Nikon and I had some Nikon lenses. The D500 is indeed an improvement on the older 7DII, BUT, it's not light-years ahead of the Canon, it is better, but not that much better.

I have the 7DII and the D500 and the 100-400L II and the 200-500. The 200-500 is a really nice lens but, the 100-400L II with a 1.4 III teleconverter is an amazing combination, the beauty of which is, I can use it on my 7DII or my 80D or my 5Dsr or my 5DIV or even my 6D or my old but still functional 40D.

Personally, I enjoy both my Canon cameras and my Nikon cameras, and I know which strengths and weaknesses one has over the other, not because I'm a fan boy but because I'm an owner and user of both.

By the way, after reading all the posts so far in this thread, up to page 5, I still believe the OP best choice would be the 80D. If cash is not an issue then, forget about the 10 fps of the 7DII, you will be much happier with the 7fps of the 5D IV; it is a really, really, nice camera.

if money is no object, then a 5D4 is the winner, hands down. If $ are a concern, don't forget that you can buy a lightly used 5D3 for the same $ as a new 7D2, or a 6D for $400-$500 less. It all depends on your priorities and what you like to shoot.

Go with the 7D MarkII...It's a great Camera. The auto focus works fine. Love mine. I have a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8,Tamrom70-200mm f2.8 with VC , Canon 18-135mm, canon nifty 50, and a couple of kit lenses 55-250mm, and a 18-55mm,from previous cameras. . They all work well with this camera. Have to say my favorite lens is the 70-200 and the 24-70. Good Luck....
