Much welcome. Don't know why you say that your new camera will be your last one. I have a few years on you and can't stop buying them. I look at my FZ1000 and my FZ300 (/330) sitting on my desk together and wonder why. Either would have been more than enough. I have been the SLR/DSLR route and have had much fun but the so called point and shoots in the bridge camera area such as the above mentioned are more than enough for me. I have also been on the Bridge camera route with FZ20, 150, 200 and now 300 and 1000, the last for the sake of the bigger sensor with which I cannot tell the difference to my disappointment.
Keep looking
Fred

My first name is Brenda. I love taking pictures, age 76 I have way too many albums. Pretty much a novice, but I do wish to purchase a new camera, not point and shoot, a DSLR. I really like my point and shoot Lumix. Which would be the better buy at this time as it will be my last one. I actually have a Nikon and Canon. Older of course. I wish to be able to change lenses. Why are folks so much into Nikon/Canon and not so much Lumix? I don't want to make a mistake here.

Hi Brenda, I started with a Nikon D3200 about 4 years ago. For me it was the perfect dslr to learn with. 2 years ago I bought a refurbished D7100. The 7100 provides me with more learning and better quality. If I had started with the 7100, I think I may have been overwhelmed. You might check out a refurbished D3200 or 3300, then see if you want to move up later on. I realize that you stated that it would be your last camera, but beware that this hobby is addictive and you may change your mind. By the way, I too am 76 and I'm not sure if I have bought my last camera yet. It's just way too much fun! Donna

I was lying. I can't tell you how many cameras I have at home. I am trying to see if anyone would like (free) a Nikon 80 film camera with the 2 rolls of film. Plus I have 2 booklets that come with it.

I love Lumix point and shoot. Have 2 of them, looking at a 3rd. I only have 2 hands. LOL
I truly love taking pictures, have been doing it all my life. Tons of scrapbooks, it's way too addictive.

I hope you can get to a store where the sales staff will let you handle and do some adjusting. I'm older now too and I went into your decision mode about a year and a half ago. A friend brought over his new Sony mirrorless he had great success with, especially in low light. I am still so appreciative of his insight and generosity. I now own the same a6000 and 4 lenses as well. It fit my hands so well and the results were consistently great.

Welcome. The only think I would say is, if you want to be a serious photographer, you need to get camera that will take pictures in RAW, not just JPGs. If you shoot in raw it is like having roll of film in your camera. You will get lot better final results in post-processing. Good luck with your decision.

What is shooting in the RAW? Sorry about my ignorance, but that is new to me.
