I have my photo taken many time throughout the course of the day. Space is limited and can
become quite crowded when a tour bus arrives. Everyone wants a photo and for many, especially
foreign visitors, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I do my best to accommodate everybody.
Is that a cell phone in your back pocket? Sorry couldn't resist!
I love them,if I had to give one up. I'd keep my cell phone.
The OP is simply expressing his frustration so why criticize him for not being a saint? Rude, oblivious people can be found everywhere, not just at tourist sites. If they're preventing you from getting your shot, shoulder them aside or step in front of them. You are under no obligation to be nice to an a**hole (many of whom seem to be from China, Russia and Israel).
The days when one could travel to an undiscovered site are long past. I try to go to *less* touristed sites like Burma, Southern India, Iran, but there are even tourists (very few) visiting cannibal tribes in the jungles of Borneo. And even in these places it pays to get to a museum, monument, temple, just as it opens. That's how I was able to place my camera on the floor in the middle of a mosque so as to photograph the ceiling.
I'm mainly interested in taking pictures of people, so I just wander along some side streets in the vicinity of a tourist site and it's common to find worthy subjects.

Well, for one, I think he feels superior because he is using a "camera" (I could be wrong) But as I expressed my feelings about it earlier, why is he there when the non photographers are there? Shouldn't a real photographer take his shots at sunrise or sunset? Just saying - and your racist comments are uncalled for. Plenty of a$$holes from EVERY NATION ON EARTH. (Maybe not from Tibet)

They have the same right as you are being there. I never bothered by those things. Why when everyone has a camera it's unfortunate? You want to reserve the right to someone like you only?
Yes as a pro they get in the way of doing my work and that is the only time I am bothered. The other times I go to out of the way places they haven't found out about yet. I usually do not do the typical tourist stuff because everyone has shot that already. Shooting those crowds can be more fun than shooting what they (those crowds) shoot sometimes. For a good sunset you have to be at the right place at the right time or the shot turns into a standard postcard shot.
Picture takers are what they are called. Inconsiderate, rude, tell everyone that their pictures with their toys are as good as any SLR. They will ruin photography for everyone.
Little Snobbish. No wonder they think of us as the "Ugly Americans".
