One clue or dead giveaway if a person is holding a smart phone in the vertical position to take a photo, when the horizontal position would not only be the best shot. There has got to be some give and take, I have a friend who was shooting a wedding photographer, every time he would compose shots of the family and group shots, the cam phone users were either edging up in front of him, shooting over his shoulder, asking the wedding party to start doing silly poses. He finally told both families, this has to stop, the limos are waiting out side for the trip to the reception, of course at an hourly rate. So if you they would not stop he was not going to take another shot until the cam phone folks stopped. The wedding coordinator told everyone that was one of his staff members or a part of the wedding party, families etc to stop. He completed the shoot, and then went to the reception.
I recently was helping my grandson make a repair on his car, in order to make sure that the parts seller did not sell me the wrong part again, would you read the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number or serial number) to me he said I will just take a phone photo of it and send it to you in instant msg. I told him if you are at the the car you can't be more than a few feet from the number so just read it to me I will write it down.
Every camera or lens that I have has uses or limitations. I know fairly well which camera or lens I will use for a shoot. I do not wish to trust a phone regardless the brand or features to get that "keeper" shot. I had a friend call me, hey can you help me my phone just quit, and I had over 1,700 photo on it. My first question was why do you have that many photos stored on your phone ?
I have seen the people using the steering wheel method of taking videos, or photos on a tablet, frantically rotating their tablets around like they were playing an arcade driving game, not only can the movement harm the quality of the shots especially if they are taking videos. Then I have to think if you only new how much you resemble a one armed wallpaper hanger at work.
If people like the photos that I call instant photos, because they just gotta slam them up to some type of photo sharing or social media so aunt Eloise in Pineapple, AL can see if that is their cup of tea, let them drink it.
I bought own and use quality cameras and lenses so I could take better photos, edit them and get the best possible shots I can.
