I think he's asking about about tether cord so he can view on the tablet what he's shooting at the moment.

You worry more about technology than being a photographer.

I have a Nikon D3300. Currently running around the internet looking for the best software to connect my camera to a laptop or tablet.
Loaded a Nikon app called Nikon wmu and can view my photos on a tablet as I take them, (have a Samsung, not real clear. Need to get an Ipad).
Loaded Digicamcontrol on my computer. Seems like it may work but can only connect via USB, no wifi.
USB provided with camera is real short, (buy a longer cable?)
Looking for suggestions on the best software to connect up. I can see I could chase my tail trying to find the most versatile software.
Always open to the "free" software if it works. Thank you.....

If you get an iPad, you will lose a lot of connectivity. I don't know how old your Samsung is but my Samsung Note Pro 12.2 tablet has an awesome screen. I too use the WMU and the image is not very clear but that's because you're only getting a preview, not the real image, which would take way too much time to transfer as you look through in real time.

To transfer the pictures to your tablet, you will not be able to read the camera's SD card using the microSD card slot in your tablet. (Note iPads do not have any microSD slots.) The formats are different and removing the microSD card from you tablet all the time is not a good idea. What you could do is get hold of an inexpensive USB OTG cable and either connect the camera's USB cable to the OTG attached to your tablet, or connect an SD card reader to the OTG cable and move the SD card from the camera to the OTG-attached reader.

I have not tried attaching the USB cable from my camera to the OTG cable on my tablet to monitor and take pictures in real time, I'm not sure that would make much difference as you would still get the low quality preview.

You can find the OTG cable here:
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Micro-USB-Adapter-6-Inch/dp/B00GM0OZ4O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489762267&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=usb+otg+cable&psc=1

This gadget allows you connect any USB storage device to the tablet and you can read and write to it.

My iPad Air2 has a better display than my wife's new Samsung tab.
I use both my iPad and iPhone to remotely trigger my D7200 and D3200 (with adapter).
Works at over 25 feet reliably is somewhat slowly.

Don't know much about the hookup, but unless you have a very old model, your Samsung will be every bit as clear as an Ipad and easier to use.

Yes, I'm beginning to think the lack of clarity on the Samsung was due to lack of clarity of the pictures I took. Not in sharp focus...

I hear ya'...But as a Newbie "practicing" low light interior room (real estate) shots, I was having a problem getting a sharp focus. I thought if I could see (with my old eyes) my shots in real time on a larger screen it would be helpful to make adjustments...

You are right to be concerned with both lighting/technical aspects and composition for real estate shots. If you use the search function for real estate, there are a number of threads in the last couple of years on the subject with some excellent hints. Here are a couple:

I have used 2 amplified USB 2.0 extensions (16 feet each) with a 3 meter standard cable with my Rebel Xsi to get about 40 feet. Extensions are available through Amazon for about $15. Live view with EOS utilities or Astro Photography Tool (ATP) SW both work fine. Not quite as elegant as wifi but easier for someone who wants to spend less time with the technology and more time shooting.

I use Nikon Transfer which I believe you can download from the Nikon website. It's free and works great.
