1. B&H now lists Portrait Pro 12 as discontinued. They may have listened to your complaint.
2. The PortraitPro home page clearly says "NEW: PORTRAITPRO 15 OUT NOW"

You had to have it, and now you are telling the world how smart you are not.

And likely more dependable than a XKE.

I decided to buy Portrait Pro "Studio" version which is being sold directly for $59.95 on their website. (Portrait Professional).
I had some credits with B&H so I decided to buy it thru them.
Frankly I did not pay attention to the full write up on the sale as it said Portrait Pro 12.
Version 15 has been out since 9-15-2015 from threads on various websites.
When I went to download the software there was a request to upgrade to v15 for an additional $44.95.
The upgrade said that it was normally $59.95 but because I had v12 they would reduce the purchase by $15.00 which would bring the total to $104.90.

I wrote to both B&H and Portrait Professional and neither responded with even an auto reply that they received the e-mails I sent.

Question:
Has anyone purchased v15 directly or indirectly from PP and was it for $59.95 or did they pull a bait and switch and ask for more money of $44.95.

I am trying to keep an open mind with B&H as I have used them for years without a single problem and want to make sure I understand where and who the problem lies with.

Thanks,
Greg

My first question, what is Portrait Professional? (comment from a happy Ps CS6 user.)

In my experience, I find that a phone call is quicker and easier than an email. Try calling B&H and talking to someone about your situation rather than relying on emails.

It's rather interesting program that recognizes facial features and then does "plastic surgery" to render portraits that look rather unnatural. If one has the necessary skills, one can do what Portrait Pro does within PS and save the money. Though not done with Portrait Pro, here's an example of what can be done with it. In this case, I used frequency separation, along with a few other actions and filters within CS6.

Try reading the thread. The situation was settled a couple pages ago.

I read the entire thread. I'm sure Greg (the OP) had his reasons, but it appears to me that he made a $45 mistake and used UHH to bully B&H into covering it for him. For me, it is one more reason to continue to recommend B&H to anybody, anywhere. (The only exception is where someone may be lucky enough to have a full service camera store within a 15 minute drive. )

Yesterday I had lunch with a Marine helicopter pilot who flew in Vietnam. He had no idea how digitize his slides. I suspect B&H will be shipping him a scanner next week. He could scan a few dozen important slides and return it under the B&H satisfaction policy. Somehow, I suspect his ethical standard are higher than that!

End rant.... I'll get off my soapbox.

It seems to me that B&H, to their credit, did take some responsibility for listing discontinued software without labeling it as such, and they didn't need to be "bullied" to make it right.

Yes and the OP didn't have to use the term " bait and switch" either. He should have called B&H and not brought his mistake to the forum. He got what he ordered. B&H would have made him a happy camper as they did without his remarks. I know that this is all settled but I have never known B&H to "bait and switch". In a way I felt he was bad mouthing a friend of mine!

I have noted in the past that the B&H Search function is difficult to find what you are looking for with (wow!, two dangling prepositions in a row, tsk, tsk).

I know somewhere in this post, I commented on and thanked B&H for stepping up and working out a new arrangement with the software company.
I just wanted to repeat it as this may be the end of the thread.
I truly believe the software was one of those rarely sold items and the updates just got away from them.
Normally I do purchase software direct, I had a $58.00 credit from them, (Another great deal offered by B&H) and decided to use it.
I have been buying stuff from B&H and will continue to do so, all is well that ends well.
Again, thank you, B&H
