Alright you amazing, globe-trotting hoggers out there; somebody PLEASE go up there and get a 4k video of that! (What'd he shoot it with, a 1990's cell phone??!)

Utah has a migration of bald eagles from November through March. Farmington Bay north of Sal Lake City is locally famous for its winter eagles.
I have taken some great eagle photos this winter, but the past two weeks the population has gotten smaller.
You might keep this in mind for next winter

Closer to home and just as popular with the eagles is the dike at Boundary Bay, Tsawassen British Columbia. I've seen as many as 35 eagles in a single tree. They start gathering there in the late fall and stick around until late March and for those months their population is in the hundreds. Snowy owls, Harriers and other hawks also hang out there for plenty of photo ops up close and personal.

That is amazing!! Didn't think eagles were that friendly around people. What beautiful birds. I live in Overland Park Kansas and going up a little North of here where their are eagles and try it get some shots this year, only you can't get close to them here. I believe it is against the law. Thanks for video.

The Eagle Lady fed hundreds of eagles every day in Homer Alaska until she passed in 2009. I was fortunate enough to get these photos back in the 90's with a 2 Megapixel camera. Wish I had the camera I have now.

And don't forget the Chilkat Eagle Festival in Haines, AK in November. This annual gathering of eagles occurs at the end of the salmon run each year in the Chilkat river. We were there last year and photographed 90 eagles in one shot.

It's all related to food. Especially where there are high concentrations of birds, due to the competition factor. I know we like to think of Bald Eagles as regal (being the symbol of our country, etc.) but they're really just like a big sea gull with talons and a bigger beak to take on bigger prey. And most of them are not fierce, although they look the part. In Alaska I have seen seagulls take food away from them. I've seen ospreys do the same here in Connecticut.

Yeah, essentially they're just scavengers with squeaky voices.

I spent a week in LaCrosse , Wisc. one March some yrs ago. (circa 1991)
The Mississippi was about half frozen.
Must have been 3 doz + bald eagles on the ice and nearby trees.
Occasionally one would fly up from the ice, go catch a fish in the open water, bring it back a eat.
Amazed me they could see a fish in the water at that oblique angle.
