You wouldn't find many deteriorating barns in Alaska, but here is something similar. These portable logging camps were built on big logs like a raft so they can be towed by tug boats from on logging side to another. I am not sure why this camp was left to decay, no more logging or what? I taught it's unique, so I took some pictures.

Great images
A unique idea, better and more room than a house boat.

As everyone has said, very interesting shots Mike. Amusing to see curtains still up and gas bottles strewn around - did they leave in a hurry, or just have no reason to return? We can but wonder now. Cracking shots btw, great detail.

Very nice! Interesting watermark on the one with the two-tone roof. The siding boards don't seem to be touching the water now (hard to be sure, though). Looks sort of like the back of the cabin had been pushed down into the water not too long ago. The two-story one with the pink trim is pretty fancy--picture windows, second floor porch, and in one shot it looks like it has a shelf for an air conditioner.

Thanks for the peek at these unusual structures.

Richard

Nice photos, Mike, and they do remind me of out deteriorating barns down here.

Thank you very much. Since they have huge tides, I wonder how that works out.
