Thanks, Corky! Here is a trick that goes against conventional wisdom; buy the most advanced and expensive camera out there. It doesn't matter what brand. By doing this, even if your pictures are way out of whack, at least they will be the best blurry, off color, wrong WB, out of focus pictures that one could ask for! Lol.

Hey join the club....
I think my brain shuts down at family gatherings and works do's.....

They have got used to it and take their own pictures on their phone.
saves me a job trying to fix the unmemorable and unfixable.

At least you were there....!

have fun

Yeah, that's it! It seems that at all family gatherings my brain simply goes into sleep mode. I had to be there. I planned it.

[quote=tainkc]Here it is, a very special occasion; my wife's retirement party. 30 years at the same joint. That is one helluva accomplishment. I took over 300 pictures and this is the only one that came out halfway decent. To add insult to injury, the stupid cake ends up matching the tablecloth. What are the odds of that happening? Jesus.

Well, at least it is well balanced.[/quoteI
If you really do not like it, change it now, do some cropping if you like, change the color of the tablecloth, or whatever comes to your mind!!

That's the nice thing about digital photography, you can take as many as you need and only save the ones you want. I was always a bit intimidated by film photography because of the probable mistakes and waste, but when digital came along it suddenly became easy peasy!

She is already annoying.

Get her into bird watching along with photographing them, make a map of nearby sites for birds and then give her a camera/lens and a big gasoline allowance. You stay home and work on portraits.

Or teach her PP so you don't have to do what you say you hate.

Confirm, you took approximately 300 pictures and this is it. Not even one picture of the wife.

Congratulations to your wife.
Nice image
I would bet someone put a great deal of thought into the matching colors.

I just thought it was kind of funny. It is just a snapshot of a cake. I actually think the picture is just fine as is. Thanks for looking!

I said this was the best of the bunch. I did a dumb thing and decided to try auto ISO. I should have known better. Most of the pics ended up at ISO 3200. I probably had enough light, just a poor choice of the lens. It wasn't fast enough. Here is one that I posted from the party that has my wife in it. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-442721-1.html

I will have to tell her. And what do you think she is doing with her time now? But quilting, of course!
