I choose ISO and aperture. If the shutter speed gets too high or low I bump the ISO (or maybe the aperture)

Most often: Aperture Priority (first set ISO), watch Shutter Speed; "Av" on Pentax.
Second most often: Full Manual; "M" on Pentax.
Third (for action mostly): Shutter Priority (first set ISO), watch F-Stops. I don't ignore anything (for long); "Tv" on Pentax.

Rare, experiment: Sensitivity / Manual Auto-ISO; "Sv" on Pentax (I'm not sure I understand these two modes)*
Rare, experiment: Auto-ISO / Auto-ISO; "ATv" on Pentax (I'm not sure I understand these two modes)*

Program Automatic (never)
Green Full Auto (truly never)

* any other Pentax users truly understand these modes?
On Pentax K-5, K-20D, K-100D br br Most often: A... (show quote)

My Pentax (K1000) only has one mode.

*My take on the modes you asked about SV mode.....Hell if I can find a use for it. You set the sensitivity and the camera decides what Time Value and Aperture Value is which might be influenced by the preset Program Line (green button). TAV mode is the Auto ISO setting for Pentax Cameras since Manual Mode is as it says full Manual with no Auto ISO, so you can select shutter speed and Aperture and the ISO will float between your preset points. I've started using TAV a bit more and am experimenting with the ramp of the Auto ISO so as not to blow out highlights. Otherwise I shoot mostly in Manual Mode with my K3 and chimp my histogram when I can.

The only mode I don't use is Auto. Depends on what I'm shooting. I don't use auto ISO. I shoot raw and kelvin.

That is true, the important one too, Manual. Actually I've been known to not even use a meter when shooting B&W film.

Oh, good, someone has an idea about Sv mode.

Best of both your worlds: I set aperture and shutter speed, and let the camera choose the ISO (auto ISO). I keep an eye on tricky exposure situations, in case I need to override.

If I remember correctly either my K3 defaults to ISO 1600 or I have in the past set it to 1600 but in any case SV mode can be used to catch Low light subjects very quickly as the camera will automatically set the shutter speed and Aperture according to the preset P-Line. I hope that's clear enough...... These Canon Nikon and Sony guys are saying P-Line whats a danged P-Line?

Ah yes, the old draw from years of experience trick.

If that's what you enjoy, then that is great. Personally, I value automation, having the camera finish the details once I've made the decisions that matter, so depending on circumstances I use either aperture-priority or shutter-priority, depending on whether I'm photographing something static or something dynamic.

7. They're still going on with this one. Two more days perhaps.
