Hello All,

My name is Rhonda and this is my first time on a forum like this. I took the opportunity of joining to hopefully learn from some of you. I take pictures for the fun of it and hopefully I will be able to make a hobby out of it. I am a small town Texas girl who loves horses, rodeos, nature and well just about anything nature. I absolutely love covered bridges, but unfortunately we do not have many of those in Texas. So if you have any covered bridges where you live I would love to see some pictures of them. I was at a local rodeo with a friends camera and just started taking pictures. My husband saw how much fun I had so he got me a Canon Rebel T6 for Christmas. I have yet to dive into the manual to learn about it as I am a little more stubborn than that as I just like to turn the knobs and capture my portrait as best as I can. I am a mother of two grown children and a grandmother of one, fixing to be two in May. I am open to constructive criticism so please be nice, but honest.

The first picture is of my horses on our place. We just let out the alpha horse from being penned up for a month so he had to reestablish the pecking order in the herd. I fell in love with the second picture of my alpha horse and tried my hand at making it a black and white. We had a local rodeo close to where I live and I just started taking pictures of everything that caught my eye. Some of these will end up on my wall and some not. Hope you enjoy and comments and suggestions are welcome.

Welcome to the forum from an AZ horse loving cowboy who wound up in central PA surrounded by covered bridges.

Welcome to the Hog, I don't get to your area as often as I did in the past. Brother in-law has rode bulls in the Bonham Rodeo for many years. He is retired now. We used to travel all over Texas watching him on the weekends. A T6 is a great camera to learn with.

Hi Rhonda, Thanks for posting your photos...you clearly have a great eye for composition and picking subjects that convey meaning beyond the framing of the photo. Your photos bring back many fond memories of the horses I've owned and who I've shared many miles of trail riding exploring the back country of Colorado (and New Jersey).

Your artistic eye is better than most. By the way, after you post you can go back and number or name each post to make it easier to discuss. You perspective and composition are right one. Using HDR can control your areas that are too bright and shaded areas that are too dark. Or flash can fix some of that. Post a picture or two at an time and ask for advise on each one, each time. If you don't ask each time you will get "that's nice" and this does not help to improve. When you click on "store original"we can see your camera settings and advise specific help. Go slow and take one at a time. You are in the best place to teach and to learn. David
