Some advice to the newbie:
Always upload jpg images; Check the box the says Store Originals so we can see the EXIF; Use the Quote Reply button when replying back to someone, that way they know what you are commenting back about.
Welcome to the Hog.
Oh, and ignore some of the more gruff comments here. You sometimes need some thick skin when people make rude comments.

Seriously though - the folks here have lots of good advice and a couple of days of experience and are willing share what they can - don't hesitate to ask detailed questions, in fact, the more details, the more accurate the answer ;)

I had trouble uploading images too back when I was still using Windows IE. I use Google Chrome now and never have problems with images.

The subject matter of your post is very good. However, you need to get closer and keep the horizon level. A tripod would also help.
