What made you choose the brand of camera you use?

I started with a Canon 35mm P&S. That developed a fault (wouldn't advance the film properly).
I went back to the dealer I bought it from and asked his advice, I ended up with a Nikon FT, with a beautiful 50mm lens.
After a couple of years I wanted something a bit more automated and ended up with an FE. That and its companion (one black, one chrome) lasted over 25 years.
I'd like to gloss over the first attempt to go digital, as any camera that can't take more than 36 shots (with its flash) without draining the battery is really unworthy of mention.
So back to Nikon. I honestly didn't think of any other make after the FE experience.
I found a 5700 at a bargain price. Unfortunately I found out why. It had a terrible shutter lag.
When I had the funds I bought the best DX camera available, a D90 (as the "entry" FX was far too much). Now that was a very good buy. Really wonderful until the hot shoe stopped working. The price of repair was not economic, so I used the money instead to get a 7200. So I get to say really wonderful again.
Now that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I started with Canon AE1 then picked up an A1 as an Art III honor student in HS. Stayed with those until they died. Bought a Kodak DCS 520 pro body then added a Canon D2000. Updraded to XT, added an XTi and used those for a couple of years at that point I purchased the Canon 7D. I've always liked the feel of Canon and in a number of areas Canon excels. I have a friend that shoots Nikon exclusively and he says the same thing. You have to like what you see and feel from a camera and for me that's always been Canon. In regards to my DSLR bodies I've put more than 50,000 frames per as I shot a lot of kids sports and gave away the digital files to the parents. I adapted the older FD lenses to the EF and purchased a number of EF lenses, in fact have enough lenses I can equip three people to shoot an event. Canon has proven to be reliable, rugged and easy to use for me.
