I have LR4 and NIX on my iMac OS 10.7 No problems. What system are you using?

megebend is correct... I had this same issue when I installed both Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro... I had to follow the steps as outlined in the link below which involves modifying folders in your registry. I haven't had a problem since.
Nice ... Haven't tried that and I'm sure I'm currently set for ProPhoto RGB. I'll have to switch it and see what happens.
I purchased the whole NIX software suite some time ago; and, contacted NIX in california that their software was changing the capture time randomly. They asked me if I wanted to go to work for them; and, I said no. It does it on both platforms. I have photographers shooting with 4-6 cameras at weddings; and, when I went to batch 1500 pics of 6500 pics -- I then went to sort by capture time using camera bits photo mechanic & found that all files capture times had been changed randomly therefore -- after a year NIX engineers contacted me and said it was Adobes, Apples, and Microsoft creating the problem. I like the point technology they use but have discontinued using it on my mac post processing of any pictures. Here you can see snap shots of date being changed after using just one pic to test just one of their programs in their nix suite --

M current solution is whenever I post-process with Nik I make sure I export from LR4 as a JPG to a sub-folder. That way if the .tiff gets corrupt I don't lose the edited pic.
I purchased the complete NIX software suite; and, have you observed your exif or meta data after processing with any of the NIX applications --

Could you check your capture time before & after when you use any of NIX software applications in their suite.. Does it still change ? There are always work arounds, but I would never use this software if doing forensics. NIX software engineers told me it was fault of MS, Apple, and Adobe -- nonsense. You can see it does change the times.. click on EYE and there you will see meta exif data changes...

could you check and see if every NIX application still changes the meta / or exif data, particularly capture time (s). Nix told me they had no fix for this and blame adobe, ms, and apple. I have license for all of these programs, aperture, LR, and CS5 extended suite... using mac pro desktop 3.2 8 core xeon intel based mac os x.. I discontinued using NIX, although there are work arounds.

After working the file in lightroom are you opening NIK through the "Photo" dropdown or the "File" dropdown. Also, how are you making the save for the NIK Tiff edit file in the menue box that comes up?
In LR3 I am using the photo/edit in/silver efex pro2 then making my changes and saving which opens LR3 back, at that point I would export thru LR3. No problem here EXCEPT I can NOT do this with LR4 even thought I did the fix as listed above.
The second issue is I exported from LR, to a USB drive, a tiff file which I opened in my other computer using PS3, made the edits and wanted to save it as a jpg, PS3 only would let me save as a tiff, not sure why.

If your tiff has layers it will not open in LR4 and you can not save it as a jpg unless you flatten the image first.
Jusst a question not knowing anything about NIX. What does it do for B&W than the camera and/or LR can do?
Nix customer service is terrific. They helped me install Silver Effects Pro on my new Mac. Call the experts.

I am using LR4 and installed NIX Silver Efex Pro 2 however when I try and use it (photo/edit in/silver efex pro) I get an error message "bad arguement #1 to "lower" string expected got nil" (this is a demo version I downloaded fron NIX website)
Tried installing it again but still no luck. What do I need to fix to make this work?
Next question. I modified a photo (in old computer) as a .tiff saved from LR4 (usb key) first problem; PS3 won't save it as a .jpg, not sure why and second issue; I want to work on it in LR however LR says the photo exhists and won't let me work on it? why? What do I change to allow that to happen?

Call Nik. They are very helpful and the software is great.
Re inability to save TIFF as jPeg. Be sure you change to 8 bit. Jpeg only saves 8 bit files.

I did flatten and change to 8 bit before I tried to save, didn't work. I had this issue once before and can not remember the fix. I do remember it was something simple.
As for Nix software not working I removed LR and NIX. Then re-installed LR and Nix, still didn't work. Decided to give up so installed LR update 4.1....
Now Nix works, go figurer that one.
