Nikon rumors is saying the 810 is no longer in production in 2017. That it is to be replaced with a new model this year.

All the D810 FAD followers will need to start saving up their pennies for a new body that, they believe, will vastly improve their photography.

I have the dough since I purchased the D800e. Now a rumor is just that so I am not holding my breath. If true and the camera is in par with the D500 quality, I would purchase it. Took 7 years for the D300 to be upgraded rebuilt from the ground-up!!!

As to 'improve' someone's photography, THAT is a can of worm I am not willing to open. Not one camera however good it is has improved someone bad habit - or good....

Ive been hearing the 810 was going to be replaced for over a year now. IM sure it will eventually happen. Just not sure when . It will have the new processor in it expeed 5 im sure of that. Probably not much more but who knows. Im happy with my 810 and will use it till it dies.
If your waiting for the new camera, it may be a long wait and who knows what types of problems it will have. So dont jump on it right away give it a few months so they can work out the kinks.

Usually when a Nikon Camera is no longer in production, that is a sign that a successor is on the horizon. The entry level crop sensor D3300 was discontinued. New ones are still available, but once sold out, only used or refurbished will be sold. The D3400 was the successor. The new full frame D820? will have to be very good, because the upcoming D760 from what I've read, is going to be kicking some serious butt.

That's my guess....that the D820 would have the same AF system as the D500 and D5 as well as the Expeed 5 processor.

Love my D810, but if it had flicker detection (for fluorescent and other pulsing light) and a real lower resolution raw option, it would make me a happy camper.

The D820 (or D850, whichever Nikon calls it) was scheduled for release at CES this month, thats why the D810 production halted last summer. Unfortunately the Japan Kukamura(sp?) earthquake damaged the factory making its sensor so production delays have pushed off release. Current expectations are to so it at the CP+ show in Japan when Nikon officially kicks off its 100th Anniversary celebration. At least 2, and possible 3 new model upgrades are expected.

Some Nikon crop sensor cameras have flicker reduction for 50hz and 60hz lighting. The expensive D810, having omitted that feature, is an oversight, that certainly should be corrected in its successor.

No amount of Pennies will VASTLY improve your photography. No camera will improve your photography. It is the operator of the camera that VASTLY improves the camera, not the other way around. The Nikon D810 will continue to take great photographs in the hands of a knowledgeable photographer. New equipment is not necessary.

I will be one of the first in line. I love my D810, D800, D750 and D500 and I am ready for the D820 or what ever they are going to call it. Nikon rocks!

I am familiar with the D800 and I know it is a great camera. It is not for me, I do not need more than 24 megapixels and that is well covered with my D610.
I partially read the article on cameras with 100 megapixels. Those are a lot of pixels so computers will need more memory and I guess editing softwares could get slower to handle so much data.
Anyway, I will not be in line for the new Nikon body.

Why do they need to do that?
