Taking a trip to Hawaii this summer and looking to buy an inexpensive mirrorless camera to take with me. I already own a dslr Nikon FX camera, but after a while it becomes a burden to carry around. Mostly will be taking the usually sights in the islands. Something easy to handle on the go would be nice. If you have an honest recommendation, please feel free to respond. (I'm a senior citizen on a limited income.)

Trying to keep it as inexpensive as possible. Certainly less than $1,000. Thank you for your response.

Ok. You will have everyone recommend what they favor. But overall, if you want portability, and great quality, m4/3 is the way to go. Do you prefer primes or zoom?

Olympus has two models that will fit your budget- the E-M5 and and E-M10. Take a look.

I have the Sony A6000 and I really like it. My most used lenses are the inexpensive primes from Sigma, the 19mm f2.8, 30mm f2.8 and 60mm f2.8. Or right now, the body with two Sony lenses (16-50 and 55-210) is $898 on Amazon.

I'm an admitted fan of Panasonic cameras.

I have and use a $700 LX100. It would be my first choice. It has a m4/3 sensor and a fixed Leica lens. It is very small and uniquely places shutter and aperture controls on dials. Love it because it takes wonderful images. (I'm using it in Hawaii as I write!)

Almost as small, but with interchangeable lenses is the $700 GX85. It also uses a m4/3 sensor. It comes with a compact 12 to 32 lens. A companion lens is the small $300 LUMIX G VARIO 35-100mm f/4.0-5.6. For $100 you get a great compact camera and two lenses that gives you a field of view equivalent to 24mm-200mm on your FX.

Total weight is 20 ounces!

I would go for the a6000 or a6300. About 6 months ago, I went mirror less and sold all my Nikon gear. At 68, used to travel with the D810 and holy trinity. Way to heavy. Sell your current gear and switch to Sony mirrorless. You will not regret it.

I third the motion except I would add the Sony 18--105mm f/4.0 G OSS to the A6000 instead of the two kit lenses Would work out right about $1000.
Enjoy your trip.

Sell your current setup and buy the A6300 or a6000 with the 16-70 f/4 lens. The future is mirrorless

I have used an Olympus OMD EM10 with pancake lens on a recent trip to Germany and loved the image quality and the small size for travel. Only thing missing occasionally was a larger zoom, but for most photos, it was terrific. I recommend B&H photo if buying new, or KEH if buying used. HenryB

Not long ago I saw the A6000 with two lenses here on UHH for $500. I think that included shipping. It's a great camera but its versatility comes with a price - it may take a few days to learn to use it effectively. So don't wait until the last minute.
