I have always feared losing one or more cards after taking photos, next problem how to store them, I lost an unused 16 gig card at Disney World while on vacation by carrying it in my jeans pocket. I like the small hard plastic storage case some cards come in but the are not all the same thickness or size, no way to store them, a ziploc bag ins't a good long term solution. On my last vacation I was in Myrtle Beach SC and visited the Ripley's Aquarium I picked up a souvenir token book it's about 6"X4.5X0.5" with 4 pages that have space for 24 tokens/medallions/ or SD cards. Works great but now if I lose it I have lost them all LOL. Cost $5.00

My camera has two slots that I keep 64gb. cards in and use the second as overflow. My camera case has 3 small pockets with Velcro flaps that each hold an additional memory card. I have a 64gb. and two 32gb cards in those. Then I carry a small card case that holds other in their plastic cases and I have five 32gb. and four 16gb. cards. ( I know, its a lot of cards but if one doesn't format or goes bad, I know I have spares. Also, when I got the camera, it came with four 16gb cards and then I bought the 32gb because they were on sale. I bought the 64 because they were on sale and were faster cards than the others and have become my go-to cards. But, I always have backup or extras if I am shooting a lot. I also have 6 batteries in the case and I have a cigarette to AC (sorry the politically correct term is 12volt accessory outlet to AC) that I can plug my charger into in the car. I also have one of the emergency jump start batteries (Diehard and others make them to jump cars) which has the lighter/accessory outlet in it, which I can plug my converter and the charger into. Yes it would simplify things if I had a charger for my camera batteries that plugged straight into a lighter/accessory outlet.

How interesting this subject came up. I just lost my Think Tank trifold CF card holder, with several (blank) CF's inside it. I have no idea where I lost it. Now I will just keep the ones in each of my cameras and not purchase anymore. I could kick myself as I don't know where I lost it!

I carry them in my camera case.
I do not ever store them but download all data at the end of the day to the computer or hard drive etc.

If those were the expensive C-fast cards, I could understand why you would want to kick yourself. As you so plainly stated.

I was "given" a zippered sd card case when I bought a small camera at Target; they still carry those cases. Whatever storage case you use, be sure to put your used cards into the case BACKWARDS, so you know which cards have all ready been used and are awaiting download.

I have a bunch of CF and SD cards... and several storage solutions.

Mainly I use Pelican and Ruggard hard cases. They are sealed when closed and will float, should that ever be necessary. They have rubber-like interiors with individual cutouts that the memory cards fit into very snugly, so you have to buy and use the case that fits your particular cards. Most are sized for either one or the other... CF or SD. Some I've seen have reversible rubber inserts designed to accommodate both types of memory. I simply put empty cards face up and filled cards face down. Makes for fast, easy card changes.

I've also got a Think Tank "roll up wallet" that I keep a bunch of older, smaller memory cards in... spares and backups. This wallet has a hand strap and clip that can be used to fasten to something, as a precaution. It has individual "pockets" for each memory card, transparent so you can see what's in the pocket. When I use the cards in this wallet, I do the same thing organizationally... face up for empty cards, face down for filled.

Finally, one time when I bought some cards they came with a neat little zippered case that each hold only one or two cards and attach with a clip to a camera strap. I don't know if it's possible to buy these separately, but I bet someone is making something similar. I sometimes use these when I only need to take a couple cards, such as just walking around shooting for fun. (I mostly use the bigger Pelican and Ruggard cases on the job, when I'm taking a lot more pics and need more cards close at hand.)

Oh, and I deliberately use a bunch of smaller size cards (mostly 16GB, but a few 32GB now). These accommodate between 250 and 500 images per card. I often use four to ten cards at an event. That way if one of the cards fails or gets lost... or goes through the laundry in a jeans pocket ... I won't be out the whole day's work. I won't "commit" a whole day's work to one, gigantic memory card!

It's rare, though. Over about 12 years shooting digital almost exclusively (and to a lesser extent for some ten years prior to that), I've had two card failures and one get corrupted... out of probably more than a hundred different cards and some thousands of uses of them.

Agree on the hard shell card storage solution. I use my cards for commercial video production, where the loss of a card could mean the loss of $20,000 or more. My case has a loop on it and I attach several neon color shoelaces that dangle down about a foot long. It's kept in a safe place in a small gear bag, but just to be extra careful... >Alan<

I have a hard-sided case from Lowepro designed to hold eight SD cards, four on each side. Works very well for me.

This what I use and highly recommend them, from Pelican, as many have talked about. They are water tight and impact protected to boot. Small enough ot go almost anywhere, large enough so you won't lose it. Check it out; they have a cople of models, so check them too. Pelican cases are top notch.

I use the Delkin Devices sd card storage water resistant case. Holds 8 and it clips shut. If you slip and fall into the water, you won't lose your sd cards. It also comes with CF cards. (I ordered the blue case and it was for CF cards. Black is for SD) Delkin was great and refunded my original purchase. Shipping is pretty quick as well.

For people of a certain age, it's still a "cigarette lighter." >Alan
