My wife and I spent two weeks in Israel last May, and for 99% of the thousands of photos I took I used my Fujifilm 16-55 (24-80 ff) lens.

No, it was not. It’s an entirely truthful and accurate remark. (Your comment was directed at “Israel is safer than most big cities in the US”.)

You’ve obviously never visited Israel before. If you had, then you would not have said what you said.

You are terribly confused and if you would have read all the posts, you would have seen that I have been to Israel.

Another comment, if I may...I found it harder to leave Israel than the US. Lots of security at the airport...also, all over the country I saw military (required conscription for most people after high school) and police and they carry Uzis. Even before leaving the US (on Delta) I had to go through a second metal detector set up at the jetway before going to the plane. They are very serious about protection. Besides, with tourism so important to the region they want to make sure people aren't scared away.

Got me there. No, I did not read all of the previous comments. Curious as to why you said that other remark was "ignorant" and "unnecessary".

Here is the entire thread.

Edia: Actually, Israel is safer than most big cities in the US.

My comment agreed with Edia's and was directed at warrior's comment. That is why I used the past tense and not the present. Warrior's comment was ignorant and unnecessary and, as I said, I agree with Edia only to the extent that I have always felt safe in Israel, even when I visited there during two very troubling periods. And I feel safe when in Chicago. It is all a matter of your fears and how you deal with surroundings.

Thank you for your explanation. But, in my own defense, I reread all of the previous posts, including yours where you made the comment in question. You include Edia’s comment, with your response below. It appears that your comment is directed at Edia’s. You do not make reference to “warrior’s” comment, which WAS, as you said, “ignorant” and “unnecessary”.

Your 28-300 will be perfect for 80-90% of your shooting. It's only drawback is that IQ is not great at the long end. The 50 F1.4 would be a bonus for dimly lit interiors and city night photography but unnecessary because of the D750's ability to shoot at high ISO. What you're missing is an ultra wide option for tight spaces and wide vistas of which there are plenty. If you want to go Nikon either the 18-35 or 16-35 F4 (my choice). The 14-24 F2.8 is a great lens but it's extremely heavy, doesn't take a filter and is very pricey.

Also since you'll be on the move quite a bit keep it as light as possible. Shlepping around a heavy shoulder bag or back pack can wear on your neck and shoulders. When I travel I like to leave my camera bag securely in my room and wear a vest with my extra lenses and other equipment in my pockets. You'd be amazed at how quickly a briefly unattended bag can disappear with your stuff

By the way, April is by far the best month to travel in Israel. The temperature is moderate except in the far south and the rainy season is over. Winter can be cold and rainy and summers unbelievably hot
