I am in the same boat as you. CreativeLive.com has many courses that I now own. PhotoshopCC: The complete Guide with Ben Willmore is the course I would suggest. He has several courses and I like his style of teaching. It is a video course with everything included in the course materials as well. If I miss something I just go back and check it out again. CreativeLive is a great place to obtain videos on many different areas. Even though I use Lightroom all the time, I bought Ben Fillmore's course on Lightroom as well and it came with over 400 awesome presets which he shows you how to use as well. If you sign up at CreativeLive they let you know when courses are presented live and those courses are free.

I like watching the live shows, and I've bought several over the years. John Greengo has excellent videos about cameras.

We get Linda.com free through the library. Just need a library card, go to the library site, put in Linda.com and your library card number.

I would highly recommend Laura Shoe's http://laurashoe.com/lightroom-video-tutorial-training-dvd/lightroom-6-video-tutorial-training/ PhotoshopCC/6 Fundamentals and beyond. It's well worth the price and she takes you from the very beginning straight through to the end. Also, at CreativeLive.com, There are beginning Lightroom tutorials that are equally as good even if you've never touched it before. The cataloguing can be a little confusing for some but these videos explain it in great detail - for the beginner.

Forget the books. I tried to learn Photoshop for years with the books and it just didn't work. But then I found the website Lynda.com and starting watching the videos. Within about three months I learned just about all I needed to know about Photoshop

I have found the Missing Manual series of instructional books to be some of the best. The Dummies books are a waste of your time and money in my opinion.

Any recommendations for a good book on Photoshop for BEGINNERS? I need a clear, basic intro to get started, although I am quite competent with Lightroom 5. Thanks.

Photoshop is exponentially more complex than Lightroom... Figure on a small stack of books and/or a series of classes.

I've used various Scotty Kelby, Tony Northrup and Martin Evening books for reference.

Have never looked at the "Dummy's" book for Photoshop... I didn't like them for some things (Canon 7D Mark II), but did find them useful for others (operating systems, computer tech, networking).

I've had a couple. I've looked at the "Dummies" books but every time I buy one for any subject, I feel like I wasted my money. The "Idiots" books are better--at least some of them.

I'm in the process of dropping Photoshop after >20 years. I'm falling in love with Affinity Photo. They have excellent tutorials and do just about everything PS can do. And much better tech support.

When I got Elements 12 I also ordered "The Photoshop Elements 12 Book" by Scott Kelby & Matt Kloskowski. I was a wonderful well written book that takes you through, step by step many of the Elements post processing procedures. I refer to it often.

Lynda.com has excellent courses. You get two weeks for free, and then you can decide if you want to pay $25 for a month of total access. I sign up for a month at a time and watch all I can - lots of different topics presented.

Can you do that more than once??? I thought the one-month-for-$25 deal was also only a come-on.
