I have the Nikon 200-500 and use it on both full frame and DX including a D7200. On the DX camera the field of view is that of a 300 - 750mm on a full frame. The VR is great making this a great hand holdable combination. Rent it first of course, as well as renting the the other 2 you mention. Let us know what you decide when you post a few pictures.

Like is said in my previous post, the combination of the Nikon D500 and the Tamron 150-600mm G2 has been, at least for me, a marriage made in heaven..VERY pleased with the Tamron, and I think many would do well and save some $$$'s by going with the Nikon D7200 which should indeed work well with either camera
..No where near as fast as the D500, but probably fine for most uses. BTW..I've read and noticed that some have had to exchange their 200-500 2 or more times to get a copy that gives them sharp focus..Maybe that problem has since gone away..I know that a similar problem existed on the G1 version of the Tamron, and Tamron took care of those folks by exchanging, or fixing that teething problem with the 1st version..I have not seen any "negatives" posted so far on the G2, which is what I have..Good luck on your choice!

Do you have images that you could share?

I currently OWN, and have used the latest TAMRON 150-600mm G2 on a Nikon D500, and it really "rocks"..Totally satisfied shooting wide-open at f6.3..Very sharp.. Their "VC" has 3 different modes, and works incredibly well..Also comes with a 6 year warranty..I have to date not read ONE BAD review on this newly revised Tamron (G2 model)..I'ts at the same price point as the Nikon at $1400, but I really like the longer zoom range, and I do believe it's "lighter" than the Nikon 200-400.. Go RENT BOTH, and then make your decision..While in the store, I mounted the D500 on the Nikon, and found the Nikon lens too heavy to comfortably hand-hold and shoot for any length of time..That's when I made my FINAL decision to go with the Tamron!. Of course All this is just my opinion..Also the limited buffer on either your D7000, ot D7100 will frustrate you with either of these lenses..I would also consider buying a new or refurbished D7200 which has a much creater buffer for fast shooting and is is still a GREAT camera for the money.
I currently OWN, and have used the latest TAMRON 1... (show quote)

I have used my 200-500 on a D7200 I previously owned, great lens, get it, you will not regret it. Here is a photo I took with that lens mounted on my D610, cardinal was about 35 yards from me, shot hand held with shutter speed at 1/250 sec. I did crop photo for better composition.

Used the Sigma 150 600 . Not bad lens at all . But when I got the Nikon 200 500 and put it on my Nikon D 500 , well it's not coming off !!!

I believe they were asking about the 200-500.

Thanks for sharing an image.
Would very much like to see others that have either lens share images.

Tried the Tamron 150-600 liked it but ended up purchasing the Nikon 200-500. It work great on my D500 and D810

I had the original Tammy for my D7100. I sent it to Tamron to fine tune the lens to that camera body and it was good at 600mm. I recently purchased the D500 and the Nikon 200-500. Before I sold the Tammy, I did some comparison shots for sharpness between the Tammy and the Nikon on the D500. Clearly, the Nikon out performed the Tammy. It was also sharper with a T.C 1.4. I have a trip to the Everglades planned for 2/2 for the first field experience. I looked and looked at purchasing the newer G2 and the Sigma Sport. The ability to fine tune at different focal lengths is certainly appealing and I am hoping I don't regret my decision. Though there were clearly differing sharpness issues between the focal lengths in the Tammy, I don't see them with the Nikon.

Two weeks ago I bought the Nikon 200-500 from B & H and used it hand-held for moon shots in PA on my D810.
We just arrived in Florida last week and used it on tripod two nights ago for moonshots with my D7100.
I am an amateur photographer. I cannot detect any significant difference between either of the moon shots.
The lens is a monster but I love it.

Yes it will work on the D7000 or the D7100. It becomes a 300-750 mm lens on those cameras. Mine is currently mounted on my D500.

I have a d500 with the Tamron AFA011N700 SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC,. It is the older version but can be picked up new for $870. Personally I'd opt for the new Tamron 150-600 G2 though. The background was added because the original was a solid gray sky.
