These look beautiful to me, Vicki, in spite of the challenging conditions. The direct sunlight certainly brings out the brilliant shine in the mare's coat. Learning new equipment and especially new software can be a nightmare. I'm trying to learn Lightroom but so far haven't managed to get further than the library.

I appreciate your thoughtful reply Donna and am glad you enjoyed your visit. The mare appears particularly shiny on this side. She had rolled on the other side and was quite dirty and dull looking - but happy.

IMO, they're quite nice shots, Vicki. There's always a learning curve, it seem, in trying to master new software. I'm trying to learn Elements too.

Thanks so much CathyAnn. The basic editing on Elements works quite well. My goal is to learn to make better use of the tools. Learning about them one at a time may be the safest approach, and practicing on photos which might otherwise get deleted might make sense, too. Many of the tutorials make it all seem so easy. Putting it into practice isn't quite so easy.

Nice shots Vicki. I have that lens, and it took some experimenting. I agree with you on the weight and I usually use a tripod with a gimbal head because I just can't seem to be steady enough for crisp sharp images.

Thank you Michael. I thought about trying it with the Gimbal, but so far don't find it too difficult. It's certainly easier to handle than the 150-600mm. I think I always get better results with some kind of stability whether a tripod, fence post, or window frame.

The Macbook Pro is a great choice. Especially good for PP work.

I just came from Best Buy where I practically drooled over some of the newer Macs with their huge monitors. The resolution was incredible and they weren't much more than the Macbook Pro. Time to start saving my pennies.

Vicki, these are beautiful photos of that horse, in spite of that focusing issue. I won't try to add anything to what the others have said, except keep practicing with that new lens. I believe you will be surprised at the amount of improvement you can achieve in a fairly short time.

I love your photos Vicki, and that has a lot to do with being a horse lover. I also am a Mac person but I still don't want to spend a lot of time in front of a computer-what is a person to do???

You've got that right!

Nice job, Vicki! Not easy catching a horse at play and gamboling about. A touch of blur isn't a bad thing, either, as it suggests the horse's motion. I like them!

Many thanks for the kind comment Tom. I only wish there were more hours in a day to do everything.

It seems I spend more of my time in front of the computer than on a horse. It used to be the other way around, but thanks to a bad back....

I'm glad you liked these Linda and appreciate your thoughtful reply.

I think using a different f stop will help, but getting blur is relatively easy. It's sharpness that I keep trying to get.

Your visit is always appreciated Randy. Thank you.

Nice shots, Vicky. Horses are great subjects. I feel your pain concerning Elements 13. I've had mine a while and seem to be slow about really getting into it. My New Year's resolution, for the second year in a row, is to become competent with it. I just need more discipline.

Just pick up a 27" IPS monitor for a few hundred bucks and drive it with your MBP.
