Linda, I prefer #2. Better range of tones, sweeter grays, minimal vignetting. I have no problem with the composition; the limp limbs pull the eye into the photo from the bottom left and right; the pod on the left stem anchors the eye there and subtly mirrors and balances the bird; the stem on the right keeps the eye in the frame and prevents it from wandering out of the frame, which it would do without that border. Very clever ricocheting back and forth between the stalks; pleasant tight framing with rich texture in the pod particularly. Well done. Matt

Thank you, Matt. I'm delighted you enjoyed the composition! I very much appreciate your time and detailed feedback. Welcome to UHH

My first reaction was to vote for the first since I love lots of contrast. After looking at all of them in the downloads, I came to the conclusion I really like the softness of the last shot. You've made it tough to decide. I don't think the composition is particularly an issue.

Thanks so much for your comments, Vicki! I'm a bit torn between the moods of #2 and #3.

It's been a very valuable thread with the varied viewpoints, mostly on the composition. I love hearing all the different opinions.

Nothing broken here, Linda. Your composition draws my eye through the entire image. It allows me to enjoy the scene while reflecting on the cycle of nature. Well done.

Thank you for your eloquent thoughts, John! I hadn't thought of cycle of nature, and like the idea very much. I'm so grateful for your time and comments.
