Found a place that would sell me a 24-105 L II prior to general release. It is scheduled to be here Friday. Hope it is everything the reviews claim it to be.

I canceled my Adorama order after I found this one. According to the web pages these should start being in stock on the 8th, so I just got it a little early.

Is it an authorized dealer?
The version I is one of my all time favorite Canon lenses. So, this should be even better. Enjoy.
It will be interesting to get some user reports. The reports I have read so far don't make it out to be that much of an upgrade over the current EF24-105.

If it is an authorized dealer, and Canon finds out that they are releasing product before the prescribed release date, they will no longer be an authorized dealer.
That is true. I bought the Canon 5D MKIV from my local Canon Camera Shop and had to wait a day before I could pick it up because of the official release date due to the fact that they said they would lose their authorized Canon Dealer status if they released it before that date.

I read on either "Canonrumors.com" or "Canonwatch.com" that the difference between the old version 24-105, and new version was not enough to warrant the extra money for the newer version.

I read the same ones. Unless user reports tell a different story it looks like I'll stick with my current 24-105.
I too felt that the additional stop of stabilization was not worth the cost and increase size/weight over I. I will wait until I get a comparison of the optical quality of the two lenses.

From what I read, its better then the original with better build, better optics and four stops of IS, but these obvious improvements are not necessarily worth ditching the previous version for. For first time purchasers its definitely a worthwhile improvement over version 1
Don't know if it is that much of an upgrade. Several reviews I have read say yes, but this in an addition, not an upgrade for me. Old one is 999 new one is 1099. It's worth the 100 to me. And it is an authorized dealer, white boxed out of a 5dmk 4 kit.
