Since I was little and read all the Heidi books I have always wanted to go to Switzerland. This was the part of the trip I was most excited about as we were to ride a train to the top of the mountains, where they said on a clear day you can see for 200 miles! WOW well as we arrived I told myself I was not going to let a day of bad weather spoil it for me....Drizzle, fog, and grey skys with no mountains in sight. We were in the beautiful little town of Lucern, with a lovely bridge lined with flowers connecting the two parts of the city almost right out our hotel door. We had a boat ride across the lake to where we got on one of the worlds steepest train rides to the top-- where we could hardly see 20 feet rather than 200 miles! Rode a gondola back down the mountain, spent the evening wandering around town and had a wonderful meal of cheese fondue and a specialty the guide reccomended of fried potatoes, with bacon and cheese on top and an egg. Went well with the beer! YUM YUM
