I'm looking at upgrading to a D7200, but I really like the flip screen. I've been doing some research on the rumored D7300 and that it might have the same with a couple of other improvements. Does anyone out there have any info on when and if the D7300 might make an appearance? Any info would be appreciated. I'd like to upgrade sometime in the next 4-6 months... If there's no upgrade coming out then I can take advantage of holiday pricing (or rather maybe Santa Wife can)....

Thanks...

Just go to the d500. It is available now, has the tilt screen, and is probably as good as or better than any improvement they may make to the d7200.

And your prediction is based on what facts?

Not based on any facts, but the OPs question is not based on any facts either, just speculation as to whether the "d7300" will ever be produced. To the best of my knowledge there are not even rumors on whether or not Nikon will develop or produce any upgrade to any of their existing line cameras. It is possible, but the d500 is here now and in my opinion there would not be any upgrade to the d7200 that would compete with the d500, once again speculation on my part this time. Without something from Nikon, no one knows, so if the OP wants to speculate, then so do I, and I really do not care if you agree or not.

If it were me, I'd go with the D500. It doesn't get much better than that in an APS-C format.

I know that rumors are just that... rumors... The two most prevalent rumors are the tilt screen (which I do use and like a lot) and an improved focusing system. Buffer memory is perhaps the third most common. Some say this month while others say at the start of 2017 and possibly as late as June. The way I see it is that if the next generation 7X00 isn't that much better then the 7200 (and I expect the improvements won't be earth shattering), then I should be able to land a good deal on a 7200. I asked the question on the possibility that there might be some folks on the forum a bit more dialed in on what's happening with the next one. Like I said I went to a store and played some with a 7200 and really like it. I've spent some serious time and effort looking at all the cameras and for me the D7200 gives the best bad for the buck. Is the D500 worth $900 more? Haven't decided. The tilt screen is not a deal killer, just a prefered convenience.... and I will be researching it even more.... Thanks for the input...

I hope that's a truthful answer. It gives me time to think about it some more and figure out what type of shooting I'll be doing in the future....

I have no idea. I figured my SWAG was as good as anyone's.

Facts? Are you implying people should make suggestions based on facts? At UHH? Have you taken leave of your senses?

If Nikon doesn't have a flip screen or an articulated screen on the D7300, they should go into another line of work. If you want a D7200, get one. When the D7300 comes out, buy one and use the D7200 as a second body. Or, you can sell it on ebay. Waiting is over-rated. You can't live in the future.

NikonRumors.com tracks everything Nikon and is very good about putting out advanced information. Visit early and often.

HOWEVER... the D7200 seems a GREAT bargain right now. In some ways, it's still superior to the D500 and the price is awesome. I can't imagine that a D7300 will be light years ahead of the D500 when it does come out. I'd say buy it now if you have a real need.

People are saying t0 get the D500. It is a very fine camera. Don't know your budget but it is also $800.00 more than a D7200. I guess you are the only one who can decide. Wait for the D7300 get the 7200 or go the extra mile and buy the D500
