Very good! The second one looks like diamonds being dropped into a glass of water. Nice brilliance.

Thank you! But the background noise is terrible.

I guess that will be our next lesson. I was having some background issues with that mode too.
Thought I'd be all clever and go down the beach where I saw some blow holes that I'd wanted to shoot. Thought this project would be perfect for it, unfortunately the tide was in and blow they did not.
Tried with the puny waves that were trickling in on the sunset.
By the time I got to 1/500 there was too little light for the image to show any detail even though the F stop was automatically decreasing.
Wish I'd changed the iso!
1/5 iso 200
1/80 iso 200
1/200 iso 200

Instructive set Scarlet! I have never experimented with shutter speed on the surf. Thanks. I would really like to see some blow hole shots (experiments).
Glad you are on - I will now work on my assignment
Can some one please help me? I purchased my camera a Funifilm Finepix HS 20 EXR. In trying to complete this lesson I noticed two pictures I took using with the same ISO, SS & F5 but they look different???? both were taken with a tripod set at F5 1/800 and ISO of 800. Does this mean there is something wrong with my camera?
confused!!!!
F5 1/800, ISO 800 DR 400
F5 1/800, ISO 800 DR 400
Hi MWAC and fellow Rockin' friends!
The hardest part of this challenge for me was to get clearly visible water splashes. I appreciated Indie's suggestion, but still managed to soak myself, my dog and, hate to admit it, my camera, as I tried to create splash effects with three different sprinkler heads. In the end I just practiced the shutter speeds on the little waves lapping the lake shore, Thankfully it is was a gorgeous day here in Maine and an awesome excuse for outdoor water play!
Shutter Speed 1/1000 sec, ISO 400
SS 1/640, ISO 400
SS 1/200, ISO 400
SS 1/160, ISO 400
SS 1/10, ISO 100
SS .6, ISO 100
SS 1 sec., ISO 100

If you are saying that you took the two images with exactly the same settings then what you are probably seeing is a shift in auto white balance. If you know how to set it manually try that. Due to a couple of factors this may be happening, low light being one of them. I doubt there is anything wrong with your camera.

Nice set Kerfree showing the range of the effect.
Thanks for the info! I'll try in direct sunlight. I've got a blow hole at a nearby lake.

Hi Jennifer, I looked at your exif data and they are both the same.
It does look like for some reason your camera picked a different white balance for each picture, there is nothing wrong. :)
If you look at #1 the bowl has more of a yellow tint, in picture #2 it's more blue. They are both exposed the same.
Tried the sink for this lesson but wasn't happy, so decided to try something more real....like the waterfall by our pond
