I would much rather look at your great surfing pictures then the same old flower pictures every day. Keep sending please.

Hahahahahhaa Millismote, it's very interesting that you mentioned " the same old flower pictures every day"........a year or two ago I also came to the same conclusion here on UHH........there was an excess of boring flower photos and bird photos. I started a new thread titled "NOT your typical flower photos". The thread took off and is still going on now. There is a core of photographers that use that to post their very creative flower photos. You really should check it out! After starting that post I proceeded to add my creative input for a while but I spun off in different directions and am not really active anymore with it. It does make my heart swell to know that those core photographers are still going strong on that site though.
I promise to keep sending surfing photos to this UHH forum! Thanks again.

Nice break from all the bird photos. :>

Exactly artwrkz! Please read what I just wrote to Millismote......I have found that there is an excess of flower and bird photos here on the Hog. Most of them boring. In defense of some of the photographers, there are some quality bird and flower photos, but most are typical and boring in my opinion. My hat is off to the ones that actually can be creative and post some nice flowers and birds.

I enjoy your work so I hope you keep posting. More behind the scenes pics would be nice too like the hoola hoops

Hahahahhaa Jim, you crack me up! I have lots of bikini clad women photos that I think you would LOVE! When I'm on the pier in Huntington Beach often times I have to wait for the surfers to catch a wave. I get bored sometimes and photograph random people being themselves while I wait for a new set of waves.
Thanks for saying that you enjoy my work, I appreciate it very much!

Well, sometimes a suggestion has to be made more than once before it is heeded.

Well frjack, I will give you the same deal that I tried to give Vicki (another UHH member).......I will supply the photos and you can put the book together and publish it and I will split the money with you 50/50. There, I'm making a suggestion ........do I need to make the suggestion again?

Mate if I could take surfing shots like that I'd post them all day whether people liked them or not. Hahaha!!!
Brilliant shots Brent. My little grand daughter (6 tomorrow) started "nippers" this year. Nippers in Australia is where young kids go to lrarn about the surf, how to swim in it, and eventually become life savers if they wan to. I'll post a few shots today for you to see,

I know what you mean Brent. Yes, you post a lot of surfing photos, but they are all good. But your genre is different and I do not think they will ever be annoying. Now then, there are a few folks out here that like you, are doing kind of the same thing and now are even being chastised by other members of the repetitiveness. I can see that also. These people who are doing the same thing over and over again are simply posting still life of the same subject over and over again with no variation even though they are using special effects such as Topaz or Nik at Night. (whatever). Every post of theirs seems to be a rerun.

Yours are not. They all have impact in so many different ways. Your time of day changes. The vibrance of the sky changes. The action and colour of the water is ever changing. The concentration of the subject is always intense. There is impact with every single photo due to all of these variables; Not to mention your expertise.

So no, you have not reached the saturation point yet.

Tom
I know what you mean Brent. Yes, you post a lot o... (show quote)

I agree - I am not a surfer or necessarily a huge fan, but your photos capture the energy and fun of the sport - and they are great images - so I enjoy seeing them. With a few photos of the girls thrown in....

I agree with the coffee table book. But first, I would crop most of those photos to put the action in the rule of thirds, and expand the feeling of the shot by having the surfer more "in your face". Eg: the fourth photo of the girl. In blowup you can see her expression that she looks like she is watching you! The drops of water are super crisp. Well done in any event.
