Driving in the Newark metro area here in NJ is bad enough , but adding to that people on cell phones , you have drivers w/o their full attention on the road . While texting they have zero attention as hand-eye coordination is broken . Texting and driving is potentially lethal and in my opinion , when a person is caught texting while driving , the consequence should be equal to the laws concerning DWI/DUI . Studies have shown that texting behind the wheel is actually much more dangerous than driving while under the influence .
Perhaps law makers can be persuaded in moving ( texting while driving laws ) in that direction .
It would be a smart move . I see close calls everyday on these roads as I'm on the road a lot . People are CONSTANTLY on these phones . I think it has become an obsession and a dangerous one at that .

I would think with all the other technology in vehicles they should be able eliminate cell signal in a moving vehicle. There are already laws against texting in a moving vehicle and you see how impressed people are with them.

Not trying to belittle the importance of the message, but that car is a Corvette, Corvettes don't have back seats! I think they photo shopped the wrong accident!

They not only kill themselves; like drunk drivers they'll kill you, too.

1. Sales of that car would be very low.
2. Hackers would find a way around the blocking.

There are basically two ways to 'block' a cell phone radio signal:

1. Shield the vehicle so that the radio signal can't enter. That's difficult to do in a vehicle and still see through the window.

2. Jam the signal with a stronger radio signal. The challenges here are that you have to block a pretty wide spectrum of signals, and those radio waves would radiate outside of the vehicle, affecting others.

Some churches and other buildings have tried to block cell phone signals, only to be contacted by the FCC and told that they were affecting the cell phone service in nearby areas.
