But it would cost me over $2,000 to get there, spend a week or more, and get back home.

I have a vague recollection of my father going south to get his dentures.

I thought you drive something that gets about 100mpg.

Save the tooth!
I've seen someone suffer with much pain from wearing dentures every day since pulling all his teeth.
Save the tooth.

That was me absolutely. After getting my bottom implant, the doctor said he was going on vacation. Glad he had a good technician because in two days putting the implant in was extremely painful. Went to his tech twice while he was gone because putting in the plate gave me a high level of pain on the left gum. The tech filed it down twice before I could stand it. Now it's great. She said the folks making the plate make it tight or bigger to prevent food particles from getting in. Hey, I'd rather wash out some particles than suffer.

Just have 'em all pulled and give the dentist $2k for some dentures. The pain will be over and after 5 or so trips back for adjustments, you'll never see him again.

Jerry, I hope you know that I am kidding here. There's nothing like having your own choppers even if you are missing a few teeth.

Ask your dentist to use a bite block. Once between your back teeth you bite into this, it is much easier than opening for a longer procedure.

Funny, but that's what I did today during a cleaning.

As for the work on the tooth, after talking to the dentist again today, I realize the only problem is a bacterial infection at the root, and not a major infection. If that could be cleared up with antibiotics, I could save a lot of money.

I wish! I've averaged a measly 62 MPG driving into town on occasion, but it's generally in the mid 50s. Coming home - mostly uphill - it's in the mid 40s. 2015 Honda Fit.

Sounds like you have a lot of health problems. I'm not young but I have only had to visit a couple of those in your list.

didn't have any when I was young, but as you get older... 40 years of stress as a large computer system salesperson has consequences (2 heart attacks, etc...)

So it would cost you about $120 one way to drive to Algodones, Mexico and just think of the photo opportunities along the way. You can save a lot at the dentist there.

Definitely worth trying a course of amoxicillin, augmentin, clyndamycin or similar antibiotic...

Which you can also get at a fraction of the cost in Mexico.

Hey I feel for you Jerry.

I dont know what Dentists are like up there
but down here I'd prefer to have dentistry
done by a carpenter than most of the dentists
I've come across... make that ALL dentists bar 1.

The last time I had a tooth out, they dislocated my jaw.
The tooth still remained embedded. Then she had another
3 goes at it and removed it in 3 separate pieces.
Mate, it was a traumatic experience.

I took a photo of the fragments when she finished.
I'll post them later, I'm at the library computer at the moment
and don't have access to the file.

Anyway, I hope you have better dentists up there
than we have down here... best wishes.

Alan.

$120 for gas. How about meals, and motels?

I went to my doctor late yesterday, and he sent a Rx for amoxicillin to the local CVS. They called last night and told me that they had only four pills, but they would have more on Monday.

This is why I like getting my Rx online.
