Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM sells for about $750. I use this lens on my 6D. All the other wide angle lenses for a full-frame are more expensive.

Because the OP didn't specify HOW wide he was looking for. That is why. He is already at 24mm as we can now see. So he is looking for ultra wide. Why don't you try to help the op instead of questions those who are trying to help. The guru needs some exlax time

I have to think the Canon 17-40mm F4L lens would be an obvious choice to consider. Either new, used or refurbed.

Seems you have a good range of focal lengths already. If you go much shorter, you'll be getting into fish eye range.

Or do you want a prime lens? Look at your pix, figure out what focal length you're using a lot and get that prime lens.

Just my $0.02

Good luck.

Since he is talking about his 6D, the EF-S lenses will not work for him. There really isn't a wide angle prime at less than 20mm is his price range, so the 17-40 is still his best bet.

Why don't you crawl back under that rock and stay there?

You said WIDE. I have the Tokina 12-28 for my Nikon and have taken some fantastic photos with it. At $395 ($50 cheaper than the Nikon mount) you can get the Canon mount. And 12-28 is a nice range, too.
