Rub some peanut butter on the back of the bark and they will hang around all day! Nice images.

I've only used the peanut butter trick in winter, myself. It will attract all kinds of birds. A couple of photographers I shot with one time carried around a long stick with vines grown all around it. They clamped it to a tripod for support and put the peanut butter on the back side, out of the camera's view.
