Great shots! They are fun to watch - never thought of hiding something in the bark.

What a great idea. Have you done it before? Does he watch you? Did he find accidentally the first time? They are such cute birds!

What a great idea you had and what great images it allowed you to capture. They are just beautiful - full of detail, texture and colour.

Thank you rowedean! They are very entertaining. I also drilled some holes in some big branches of a tree we pruned. I put nuts in the holes for the birds and sat in my photo blind and saw a little chipmonk going nuts ...he thought he'd hit the jackpot for sure.

Thank you jim! I appreciate your comment.
It's fun to watch them go down the tree head first looking for nuts. If the nut is stuck the nuthatch pecks and pecks on it untIL it falls to the ground.

I'm sure he was up in the top of the pine tree watching. the first time I thought of doing it I placed the nuts on the tree, sat down in my chair
and waited. In just a few minutes I saw him go down the tree, grab a nut, and fly away. About 5 minutes later several more came flying to the tree and had a heyday finding all those nuts. I was close to the tree. I agree they are cuties and one of my favorites!
