If I like a building i will try to capture it even though I am not an architectural photographer.
This is the new library at Macquarie Univesrity (Sydney, Australia). With my wife singing in the university choir I get to spend a fair amount of time there.
Both pics shot, during summer evenings. Perspective correction is done during post processing.

#1 is from the south - single hand held shot with a standard zoom. A lot of the library is under the garden/lawn
#2 is from the north - hand held, 5 shot HDR PP'd in LR. A different day to pic #1. Notice the small figure for scale.

Oh yes, those fire escapes are wonderful!! I am so attracted to contrasty (graphical?) black and white to begin with and these are mesmerizing.

We had a black and white share thread last winter in which someone posted a stark set of stairs curving up a water tower. I will find it (and that person) and see if we can get it posted here.

I loved the quirky distortion from my ultra-wide angle lens and had no interest in "correcting" this one - lol

I liked that it gave me three overlapping structures, but unless I brought out the shadows a bit you couldn't see the plants. The plants seem so "Iceland", where the architecture really could be anywhere. That's about the best I can do

Thank you!

I hope museums count.

This is one of my favorite shots, from the Greenfield Village living museum in Dearborn MI. The two buildings in the foreground were slave quarters, moved from a plantation in Georgia. The building in the background was the home of a middle class African-American family in Georgia; apparently Mr. Ford met this family, was mesmerized by the house, and insisted on buying and moving it to his village. When I discovered this angle, which allowed me to get both structures in the same frame, I just had to take it.

Nice shot. I like taking photos of the historic buildings I visit, and I always question whether to keep the signs in. Some are more problematic than others. This one looks designed to "fit" in with the setting and works. Do you try to do it one way or the other or does it vary case to case?

Wonderful building and very nice images. You got a lot of detail in that first shot. Your HDR is nicely done, I like the figure included.

Many, well at least my, architectural photos overlap with "street" since I like to portray the context and scale by including the human element.

Have I used the word "mesmerizing" here yet? I could gaze at #1 and #3 all night!

I don't have a "usually". In this case, the only framing that worked for me included the sign.

added: on this particular day, I was working under a self-imposed discipline to use only one lens - a Soviet-built 37mm "Mir-1" M42-mount lens - which really limited my options.

Thanks. The library has a great art section and a good photography section.
