it is my understanding that ANYONE making money from sources within the USA must pay tax on it--no matter where in the world (s)he opts to live.

not if they renounce their us citizenship, like that dirtbag did. I don't usualy laugh at the misfortune of others, but in this case .... facebook ipo is diving, the SEC is investigating, class action lawsuits from investors, another class action suit for 15 BILLION on invbasion of privacy. maybe zuckenberg and sigapore man will wind up like the 2 old rich guys in that eddie murphy cinematic classic trading places!
Not that I don't agree, he should pay his taxes. Most of what is happening in terms of investigations is just retaliation, with not much to go on. It all drama!!!
What I am really wondering, is if Sinatraman feels the same way about all multimillion dollar corporations, because each and every one of them funnels money out of USA or/and Canada to avoid paying taxes, from the car you drive, the appliances you buy, the clothes you buy, and the food buy from factory farms. The saddess part of this, is that the government actually makes it possible for them to do this. To think otherwise is to walk around with heads in the clouds. Be informed, and not from what you hear from mainstream news conglomerates.

Most of the cases I've heard about involve multinational companies that make the money abroad and leave it there instead of bringing it into into the US which would subject it to our tax rates.
Can you either here on in a PM tell me how to put a watermark on pictures

Your understanding is imperfect.
US citizens and green card holders are required to file taxes in the USA, but up to about $80-90,000 they will pay no tax on earned income if there is a reciprocal tax treaty with the US (as there usually is). Instead, they are taxed in the country in which they live. In fact, as I wrote these words, my wife came through the door with the confirmation of delivery of this year's French tax filing.
Non-citizens living outside the US are not required even to file US taxes unless they have a green card. Why should they be? When I had a regular column in a Russian photo magazine, I wasn't required to file Russian taxes, any more than I am required to file US taxes for income from writing in Shutterbug magazine in the USA. If I had to file in every country where I've ever sold an article or a book, my entire year would be taken up with tax forms.
The US is one of a tiny number of countries (mostly third world) that require their citizens to file when they are living outside their country of citizenship. Thus, although I am a British subject, I no longer file UK income taxes, because I don't live in the UK. This seems reasonable to me.
Cheers,
R.

Flickr, and you can control who is able to view the photos.
Flickr is however not a comunications site. It's only for photo posting.
