Meet Meagan on a white background. It was a tad windy as she heads into the wind!

Hi Tom, I like this shot of Meagan, the fan on her hair is a nice idea. In this photo, down to the red wrap, she kind of reminds of the old bowsprits they placed on the upper bow of sailing ships of centuries past. None of my shots of Meagan came out this good, unfortunately non of my shots were profile shots like this one and all had unfortunate strands of hair that came down on the camera right side, which kind of looked like she had just gotten out of the shower. And, of course, I was so distracted that I have to admit that I wasn't really looking that much at her face, for some reason . . . and didn't notice the problem hair until I uploaded the photos. I don't remember the fan or the red wrap during this shoot as all my shots of her she was totally undraped - so you're obviously much more creative than I am. The only suggestion that I would offer is that in the unlikely event that you ever have a chance to photograph Meagan again and are using a wrap like this one, is that you find a way to make the wrap look like it's blowing in the wind too, instead of just hanging straight down. In the upper half of the pose she looks like she is leaning into the wind, and the bottom half she looks like she is just standing there. If this were my photo I would probably rotate the photo 15-20 degrees clockwise to get even more of a forward lean and then work your post magic to eliminate the bottom part that doesn't work as well as the top half. If you try that, I hope you repost because I'd love to see if it worked, or not.

That was an amazingly fun weekend, wasn't it? Nice to see you are still shooting.

Nice high key shot. I like it.

One observation, her skirt is not blowing in the wind. This creates a contradiction in the viewers mind.

Tom very nice shot of a very lovely Model.
Some of my models like to use a fan, not to blow their hair but especially with sheer clothing to turn on the high beams!!! LoL

The pose looks awkward to me ......probably cropped somewhere north of knee height would be OK !?

Stan,

Thanks very much for looking and your positive comments. I think I like white backgrounds and pure black backgrounds the most because they seem to bring out the model without any distracting information to confuse the viewer. I do like other backgrounds for models as long as the background is out of focus and/or has a good, well done Bokeh using the correct camera settings for a short DOF. Thanks again.

Best Regards,
Tom

JD,

Yes, I had noticed that after the shoot, but also noticed that she is holding her wrap down by her derriere, and not really sure why she did that. It does seem confusing to the eye when you see the wind effects on the upper torso, but not below the waist. I am now wondering if the fan was directed too high or was not a large enough fan?

That is definitely something that needs addressed if ever shot again, but that is not very likely. This was actually shot in June, 2014, and I have no real way to get her to model again . . . not sure she is still modeling, plus she lives too far away to get her to pose for me again if she is still posing for a camera. Thank you for your critique - much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Tom

Good Morning SS,

I was hoping you'd look at this and give me your comments. The reason being is I seem to remember you saying that you like to shoot models using a white background. I very much enjoy looking at the images you post - very nicely done using your good taste and technique.

I know another photographer (a professional) who also likes to shoot using white backgrounds, and he has a set-up in his studio so it is like a concave white background running from ceiling to floor (using two walls) and extended out several feet onto the floor which includes a concave corner as well - it is a seamless background, giving special effects, depending on the placement of the model and the vantage point of the shot (where the camera is held or placed on a tripod).

I just looked at another image of a model, yesterday, and the member(?) mentioned another picture (he had taken and posted around Sept. 3 or 4) of the same gal giving the name of the topic. I looked it up, and although she was fully clothed, the lighting was such that it brought out her camera right breast behind the sheer top and the shadow (almost like a silhouette with the light hitting her breast from the side) accented her nipple, which was the icing on the cake for that particular shot. I just can't remember the name of the forum topic for the image I am referring to and it is on another computer of mine which I am not using presently. Your comment

Tucson,

The pose reminds me of a sailor (a pirate perhaps from a long time ago), standing on board a ship facing the wind at the bow of a sailing vessel with sails. The way her legs and derriere are positioned as well as the red wrap (other than the bottom half) and hair blowing in the wind just seems to suggest that to me. All she needs is a hand held old-fashioned telescope! Her stance is such that she is bracing herself against the force of the winds. Thanks for your observation and comment.

Best Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom, I like this shot of Meagan, the fan on her... (show quote)

Greetings Jon,

You posted comments first, but I waited until now to reply so I could spend some time with my response to you making sure I could try to do it justice.

It is so good to hear from you! Glad to see that you are still checking in and reading and looking at images on UHH. Actually, I have seen some comments you have made, fairly recently, about other images, and your comments are always well thought out and well worth reading. I see you got the same impression as I did about being on the bow of an old sailing vessel. Read my comment to Tucson in this thread.

I am surprised you didn't get any profile shots of Meagan. I have many different shots of her from various positions and was thinking about posting one or two more once I have processed them . . . it seems like I never really bothered since I wasn't allowed to upload them until we have this forum topic now on UHH. I like your comment about not looking at her face, Much, - Hah! I would think you have had many opportunities to be looking at beautiful women and their body features in Norway, or perhaps I am being culturally racist or prejudice (or whatever the right words or phrase or cliché is, which obviously isn't coming to mind right now!).

I don't really remember why the red wrap was not blowing in the wind of the fan, or why she was holding it in her hand behind her derriere? It doesn't make sense to me, either, and should have been addressed during the shoot. I have several pictures of her in low light with shadows accenting her upper body (chest, breasts, and face) basically lying or sitting on the floor. Perhaps I will go back into my archives and see if I can find one that would be fitting for this forum topic and process/develop it, and then post it in a new forum topic thread. If I do, I certainly hope you will see it and make your comments and critique.

If I get a chance, I may try your suggestion rotating the image and cropping it so only the upper part of the wind blown appearing image is visible. Another thought might be trying to put in some motion blur or some such thing. I suppose the options are numerous, but nothing as good as getting it right from the get-go!

And yes, it was an amazing weekend and so enjoyable making new friends and getting to know everyone. I am looking forward to seeing some more images of yours in the near future. If you do upload any, send me an email (which I am assuming you still may have my email address) so I don't miss seeing them. Great conversing with you and glad you looked and made your comments . . . much appreciated my friend. Until next time . . .

Best Regards Jon,
Tom

John,

Thanks so much. This is a very stoic and forthright looking image - certainly not really glamorous, but not meant to be. I wanted to show her full body shot for this very purpose, without any major cropping. I did crop just a little, taking away from the camera left side a little (basically dead space), but not too much. Glad you like it, and much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,

It's a nice image of a very pretty model. I think it would be great if the red cloth was also blowing in the wind matching Meagan's hair. But the bottom line is do you and the Meagan like the image.

Would like to see more if you have.

Rob

Hey Rob,

I liked the image when I had taken it, but now that a few people have pointed out the lower part of the wrap not affected by the wind (fan), I guess it does bother me. On the other hand, since she is in a stance that is stoic, I'm thinking that it may be OK that the wrap is not being blown by the fan - Hmmm?

I do have other images of her in various poses, so I may have to dig them up, process them, and see what people think. A long time ago, I had posted one of her that was very riskee and it lasted on UHH for a while, but then too many complaints were made and Admin had taken it off. I even tried to make it show as little as possible, but just a hint of her breast, if I remember correctly, and it was just too much for some.

Give me some time and I may try to post some more in the future . . . as soon as possible. Thanks Rob for your comments.

Best Regards,
Tom
