While taking pictures of humming birds and skippers in the yard I noticed a dandelion puff ball I just had not been paying attention to. The plant has grown to the tall phase with bloom and them puff balls on long stalks. (I got rid of my weekeaters and mower years ago and the lawn guy hasn't been around in 2 months.)

Just for the heck of it I started taking some shots of the weeds, millet growing from bird seed etc.
This puff ball/seed head is fairly small, a quarter would cover it.
This is bright daylight in direct sun. I was playing in PP and among other things dropped the vibrance and upped the saturation just to see what it would do, then took it to Viveza 2 for structure and PS for sharping and back to LR to tweak the vibrance, saturation, highlights and exposure again.
For a weed it doesn't look so bad.

Great shot. I like the backlighting. Even weeds can be interesting. A field of yellow dandelions or puffy dandelions would make a great pic.

Thank You
It is still a weed and the yard guy has an industrial grade weed eater.
Bob Yankle informed me it is a White Sow Thistle, I always thought these things were a form of dandelion. Looked it up, Bob is right, and we have 5 species in So Cal. Not a dandelion, a cousin, and still a weed.
