Been there, done that, and yeah, you need to go back!!! The inside is the best part! The guy loved cats, right up your alley, cat stuff everywhere, and paid an army of woodcutters to do the inside of the castle. You'll love it! Nice shots of the outside. Cool place.

David took a day off yesterday so we can take a trip back to Connecticut, mainly to see the aquarium and the town of Mystic, but we took a detour and went to visit the Gillette Castle first... and I'm really glad we did!! The castle was closed that day, so a return trip is needed, because I'm sure the inside is even more beautiful than the out. This castle is situated on 184 acres of land and if we had more time, hiking through the paths would have been great!!

Hope you enjoy this part of the series and it is a must see if ever you are in the area!!

Great set Angela. Love that stone work - beautifully done. Is the castle connected to the Glllette Razor Blade Family?

This isn't a criticism of your photography at all, in fact I think it's very good. But geez! That has got to be the ugliest castle I have ever seen and the stonework is incredibly crude, there has been absolutely no dressing done to it at all, just random rocks stacked on top of each other and mortared together.

I know, I know! I'm gonna get crucified for this, aren't I?

Very nice Angela! When you go back, make sure you also visit the Goodspeed opera house(also in East Haddem). It's the oldest opera house in the country, and the village of East Haddem is quaint.

Very nice. The name sounded familiar, and the pictures reminded me that I was there years ago.

Thanks Randy for telling me about this fantastic castle, we loved it and can't wait to get a peek at the inside... especially that he loved cats!!
