David took a day off yesterday so we can take a trip back to Connecticut, mainly to see the aquarium and the town of Mystic, but we took a detour and went to visit the Gillette Castle first... and I'm really glad we did!! The castle was closed that day, so a return trip is needed, because I'm sure the inside is even more beautiful than the out. This castle is situated on 184 acres of land and if we had more time, hiking through the paths would have been great!!
Hope you enjoy this part of the series and it is a must see if ever you are in the area!!
Please give the downloads a try for more detail!!

Bob, it's unbelievable.... I can't wait to get inside, from the window it looks like all stone. I tried to attach a link, but for some reason I couldn't get it to work.
Thanks for taking the time to DL and I'm glad you enjoyed!!!
Nice pictures...and you are correct about the interior. I visited many years ago and the interior is breathtaking...make sure you get back and see it.

Thanks for the visit Techman and for your kind words!! We will be going back, probably with the fall colors... have to check the site to find out the days it's open.
Again, thanks and glad you enjoyed!!
Thanks Earl, glad you enjoyed!
Very nice set Angela. My favorite it the stone steps leading up. Really cool composition.
Looks like a fine example of what very well to do people back then had built for a family summer home. Was it built by the Gillette of the razor company? Reminds me of Bolt Castle in the Thousand Islands area, except that wasn't finished. You showed the stone work very well.

Thanks Carol, glad you enjoyed!! It was a wonderful place to visit and if wasn't for some hoggers on here, I would have never known about it!! So worth the trip and we need to go back to take the tour!
Angela can't wait to see more! Nicely done!

The history of this castle is very interesting, the owner and designer was William Hooker Gillette, an actor who played Sherlock Holmes... was built from 1914-1919. I tried to attach a link, but couldn't get it to work. It's worth a Google search.
Thanks for the visit Tpharm and glad you enjoyed!!
