After the recent police shootings in Dallas, a daughter of an officer realized that she had not had a photograph with her police officer father in nine years. As a result, she organized professional photographers to volunteer to take photographs of DPD officers and their families. She hopes to spread this event to other police departments as well.

What a great idea. I had a reason to go by my local police station a couple of days ago. When I thanked the officer I spoke with for their work, and how it was appreciated he just beamed. He was not a white officer, either light skinned black or hispanic, I wasn't sure and not that it matters in any way, but a friendly voice of community support seemed welcome.

It doesn't mean the family photos have to be shared, although people tend to put anything and everything online any more.

These are professional photographs for the family and will not be shared on the internet. Why would you think they would be for general circulation?

If I wanted to, how long do you think it would take to hack into the web site?

P.S. "They" hacked into my/our DoD clearance web site and got security info on 200k employees.

Yes, REALLY!!!!!!

Are we going to do this for every person in the armed forces as well? Then why are cops and their families any better?

Dallas is a big city. There must be a few thousand police officers in the city, not counting reserve officers. You would have to have many photographers to accomplish this task. And are the photographers asking for donations from the public? This could be costly if large prints are made for each family.
