I have bought several factory refurbished cameras and never an issue...each one had fewer than 50 for shutter count. Strongly recommend buying factory refurbished cameras and lenses to anyone contemplating a purchase.

Heading out to the Colorado Rockies for a long weekend and am looking forward to using this camera.

I agree. I missed an opportunity earlier this year to buy a D7200 refurbished from Adorama for $769. A deal probably gone forever. Congrats.

I think it depends on how long the model has been out. I had purchased a factory refurb which had about 40,000 activations. While I'm sure it would have been alright, I returned it. I had heard of others purchasing refurbs with very low activations...but not this one.

Agreed. I've bought 2 Nikon cameras and numerous Nikon lenses factory refurbished and haven't been disappointed with a single one. I have yet to experience any warranty issues.

What, exactly, is a refurbished camera? Does it start with a used, returned, open box, defective or demonstrator camera, or cameras recycled due to a know factory defect (or all of the above)? And what is done to to "refurbish" it? Apparently not done is to reset the shutter count. Who does the refurbish, the factory or factory repair, an authorized repair agency, or just anybody? Is there any standard warranty for a "factory refurbished" unit? Can one expect a life similar to that of a "new" unit? Does the refurb include the lens? Is the lens inspected for defects or "like new" performance?

Exactly. I wonder how fire fighters would feel about only buying REFURBISHED air rebreathers, or our police force using REFURBISHED bullet proof vests or guns, would people feel uneasy about driving over REFURBISHED bridges, how about a REFURBISHED car? I wonder how a bride would feel when her wedding photographer told her that they were using REFURBISHED equipment on HER wedding. How about two used camera's being sold on Ebay, both the same except one is REFURBISHED and the other NOT, I wonder which would sell for more, and more importantly WHY would one sell for more? Is it how the public views the term REFURBISHED? Does the word carry a negative connotation? And why is that? On dating sites if a person has had many, many bad relationships but now feels healed, should they now be considered REFURBISHED, or will their past keep them from developing a lasting relationship? And lastly I think it really comes down to just what will people settle for, will they settle for REFURBISHED or new? And, if one were not worried about price, would they buy new or REFURBISHED? And that last statement may say it all.

So, refurbished camera's are hand made? How about your $25,000.00 Sigma, was that also a refurbished.

My heavens, Bill, why are you so bitter? Are you starving for some attention? Come on, pal, you can tell me. By chance, had you recently been reading a medical journal and had become upset when you discovered that all of the potions and pills in the world ain't gonna make a man's itsy bitsy, underdeveloped, little Wee Willy grow? Well, anyway, I hope you get to feeling better. Hey, here is an idea ! You could always go outside, start your pickup truck, rev the engine, sound off its loud mufflers and take off squealing your large oversize tires. Who knows, pal, maybe that will get you some attention, eh, Bill?

Actually I was just being curious about your post. Are refurbished equipment being hand built? And was your $25,000.00 Sigma lens refurbished? And, do you like it?

Good luck with the new body. I bought one, refurbished in March, and had a 15 shutter count. Equal to new at great savings. I love my D7200. Have fun in the Rockies.

Don't think so joer...Nikon Tech Support says no way do they run the counter back. They did not even do that when they put new shutter mechanisms in returned cameras. Besides the counter is in the cpu, like a car odometer. You can turn the odometer back but the mileage is still recorded in the cars "brain". Every time you hook up an auto oscope it shows the correct miles. Same with the camera cpu.

A place to write my warning. A factory refurb is not the same as a "refurbished". That word "factory" is all the difference. I have purchased several factory refurbished cameras and other gear. Every one was great. However, I bought a refurbished laptop from a well-known vendor. It was worked on by a third party and was terrible, even had bad power cable. One usb port would not work. The memory card slot failed. The vendor refunded, but it was a bad experience. Factory refurbished, never a bad one.

I'm sold on refurbs. Own several. My latest, from Cameta, was a Nikon DF with 72 actuations.

My experience with factory refurbished items has been positive. To me, the item developed an issue, and the factory found and corrected it. This increases my trust factor in the item, and I saved some money in the process.

Your money, spend it in the way you choose to!

Some years ago, maybe 5 years, I bought a refurbished Canon XTi camera. The pictures came out blury. My neighbor happened to have the same exact camera/lens and so we took the same exact picture with the same exact settings from the same exact positions. His picture came out sharp and crisp while mine was blury. I returned the camera and got a new one. Problem solved! I for one will never buy a "refurbished" camera again.

What an old clunker!

Shutter count on my refurb D7200 was (read it and wheep) Zero!

Just kidding!!! Congrats on purchasing an awesome camera!
My wife is already getting tired of me telling her all the time how great it is.
