This is my 21st century spin on the old WWII propaganda posters that were so prevalent during the war. This is a composite of my original photography, a borrowed shot of some burned out vehicles and a whole bunch of digital painting. My model is my lovely stepdaughter Amanada. This is actually a birthday present for her. I shot the original of her last year at Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert north of Reno. The photo was nothing special, but I always had this idea in mind. I also shot the A-10 (which is the same plane in this piece -- one plane, two different views) at the Smyrna Airshow in TN -- The same airshow which, unfortunately, claimed the live of the Blue Angels pilot last week.

Can't go wrong with an attractive woman, and your artwork is outstanding Don.
Well that's put me off posting my latest composite!!!!! Just outstanding Don. Recently on another site had a discussion with someone who is of the opinion there is no merit and not a lot of skill in digital art work. Pure photography is much more skillful he says. I shall send him a link to this I think.

LOL! Post it, I love your work and would like to see it. Regarding your discussion on that other site, please, feel free to share this with him/her. I find those types of comments amusing -- heck, some fellow hogger will probably post something similar about this. Haters are gonna hate, so be it.
Photography is the perfect blend of science and art. Some folks get wrapped up in the science and forget all about the art aspect. I shoot these types of photos with a final image in mind. I only show the photo to give a starting point reference to the final design. After all was said and done, this image was 72 layers -- not much skill or merit in that, eh?! ;-)
Most photographers are always looking for a Lightroom/Photoshop trick or tip for their photography tool bag. I use my photography as a tool for my graphic design tool bag.
Make sense?!

Thanks Frank ... Amanda always makes a good subject! I wish she would get out to see us in Nashville more. I have a series of shots I'd like to use her in to create a larger poster series.
Nice work, Don, your composites always deliver and this one is no exception. Well done.
Great work Don - both the photos and the skillful composite and artwork.
I have to agree with Billy that photography encompasses lots more than an original capture. The only time I have an issue with people's work is if they try to pass off obvious manipulations or composites as being SOOC.

Love the heart-shaped sunglasses. They do not make propaganda like that anymore.

Absolutely wonderful digital artwork! Great emulation of that vintage poster look. Fun to look at in all its finely executed detail. Thank you for sharing your talent with us here.
An Artful composition. Now get her off the battlefield and keep her safe.
Beautifully done! Kudos!!
