I have the opportunity to buy either (not tempted to buy both!) for what appears to be a reasonable price.
What do those Hoggers who have experience of both prefer/recommend?
I currently have a Panasonic FX150 which is very good but I do hanker after the greater zoom for photographing wildlife etc.
Advice/experience welcomed please!

I say go for it just make sure they are in good condition. Besides you can't go wrong with Canon products.
I have both, but prefer the 50. The only problem is I keep hitting and setting the timer setting on the 50. Good luck.

I own the SX60. I have used the SX50 many times. If the price is close, go for the SX60. If the SX50 is considerably less expensive buy it. Both are excellent.

Both good cameras, although I sense, reading over several previous threads, that the members feel the 50 is a better camera? What is the shutter count on each?
Many thanks for the replies and thoughts-all much appreciated.
Since original posting, the chance of the SX60 has been withdrawn for the time being, so am looking forward to the SX50 ! Shutter count on both unknown....the SX50 is showing some signs of wear but first couple of photos feel/look good and the price is very very good - with a guarantee of price refund if camera dies!
I would go with the SX50. I have the SX50. I am told it is better than the sx60. Check Ebay for a fair price. Canon sells them reburbished from time to time for $150. You will love the Zoom and picture quality

I would go for the SX-50. I have had excellent results with it. There have been a number of posts stating the SX-60 is inferior to the SX-50 but I have to basis on which to judge. I find the advice on The Hog is usually pretty good. There are occasionally posts that show a lack of knowledge you have to be careful if you are going to spend money.

I am also told that the SX50 is better, and having held one briefly, I tend to agree.
You could also go with the Nikon P900...it doesn't have mega zoom, it has Ludicrous Zoom!
PixelStan77 - thanks for the thought - going with the SX50 -sadly it doesn't seem that Canon sell the SX50 refurbished here in the UK
cameraman - Thanks-looking forward to being an SX50 Hogger!
n3eg - The Nikon P900 at 85 zoom is incredible....but sadly lacks RAW amazingly enough.
I have looked into the SX 50 and the SX 60 and I would give anything to own the SX 50 but you cannot find it unless you buy brand-new somewhere. And I don't want to pay an exorbitant amount. So if you ended up with the SX 50 you ended up with a good deal
You really should be stepping away from the keyboard, and heading over to wherever the SX50 is, with some cash.
I used to own an SX50 and when the SX60 came out I did some research to maybe upgrade.
It didn't pay. It seemed the SX50 photos were of better quality.
Michael - thanks! Done so, got it....and beginning to snap!
mkaplan519 - Thanks - that does seem to be the consensus - the SX50 has the edge
